Beautiful, expansive park grounds, more like a collection of landscaped parks than pristinely manicured gardens. So many gardens and walks to visit, you can easily spend an entire afternoon exploring the paths or simply bring a book and blanket to enjoy the sun. Signage for all the paths and landmarks are clear and abundant. The Ornamental Lake is massive and offers a lovely stroll, the floating islands are pretty Don't miss Guilfoyle's Volcano at the south end of the Gardens, which is well-kept and tranquil.
One of the best botanical garden. We like it more then in Sydney. Will come again. Take a picnic with you and drinks if you want to stay longer.
Beautiful park! You can spend hours here watching the extensive collection of trees, plants and flowers. There are plenty of toilets available.
Went on a day with great weather. Lovely and peaceful place; clean too. Lots of birds and the plants are well maintained. There is a cafe and souvenir store out front. Just a note if youre going for the Seeing the Invisible campaign. The app downloaded in the month of Sept 2022 doesnt work. We had to loan two phones from the service desk by providing credit card information at 0 charge.
The Royal Botanic Gardens are magnificent and we visit often. We are uplifted by them during these difficult times. The service by staff at the Gardens Shop is always courteous and reliable. For example, our online purchase of ‘Wonder’, the book to commemorate 175 years of the RBG, was handled very efficiently by both Vikram and Phuong. A visit to the RBG is a very rewarding experience.
Amazing that generations ago thought to put this together so we can enjoy it today. A great place to bring a picnic, go for an explore, meet friends or have a birthday. We really enjoyed the children's garden - would be even better on a hot day with the water. You can purchase food and drink but it's rather expensive. A shuttle tour is great, especially if you want to save your legs or learn something. Will be back for sure.
Lightscrape garden was amazing, I have been living in Melbourne for 28 years this is the first time I have known about Bontanic Garden and the Observatory Gate
The garden and the complete park are is great for a run!
Great spot in the middle of the city for some good relaxing.
Stunning gardens and a beautiful place for all ages . Melbourne is indeed fortunate to have had the foresight of the designer of these gardens .
