Great fresh & hot BBQ chicken!nGreat stock of gluten-free stuff.nFriendly, but not all stuff is friendly.nBananas stacked in 4 layers, some squeezed by the weight.nOverall a good grocery supermarket.
It’s a solid local Foodland… good range of stuff and usually well stocked. The fruit and veg section is fresh most days, and they’ve got a lot of SA-made products which is nice to see.nnSometimes the aisles feel a bit cramped when it’s busy, but the staff are always friendly and helpful. Prices can be a little up and down, but overall it’s a good place to do the weekly shop without too much hassle.
It used to be a pleasure shopping here.nPreviously, I posted the following: I Iove that they support local growers and have different items on offer to the usual found at the two major supermarkets. They still have great specials on offer. They currently stock stock Nippy's oranges, which amazingly are the cheapest in the area for 3kg bags .nTheir meat and cheese selection is amazing and the staff happily accommodate the customer's wishes .nnUpdate: The price of oranges is gradually creeping up closer to the other supermarkets .nAlso, while my comments re the store staff haven't changed, I'm extremely disappointed in the lack of customer care by the duty manager. I found him to be unsympathetic to a situation that could have been easily resolved by offering a replacement product.
I do all my shopping at the Mount Barker store, but maybe not for much longer. Staff are usually very pleasant and attentive. However, this week past, on the two occasions I have been in there, there have been very long queues at the checkouts, with only one person at the main checkout and one person at the fast checkouts. This is beyond a joke at the busiest time of the day. On Tuesday, with long queues, at least 5 carts waiting to be served, three staff were quite happily chatting away with each other, behind only one staff member serving at the fast checkout. NO FOCUS AT ALL ON CUSTOMER SERVICE. Today I was told that I needed to go and queue at the one open checkout, after queuing at the fast checkout with my basket of 12 items. I only had a trolley because of a heavy box of water. I declined. If this keeps happening, I will be looking for somewhere else to do my shopping. It’s becoming ridiculous. Do better Foodland Mount Barker.
Always top quality produce, especially fruit and veg and cheeses. If you have a restricted diet, this is the place to go!
