Flavours Cafe

About

Flavours Café is situated on the corner of Railway Street & Yates Avenue in beautiful Boonah.

Story

Flavours Café building was originally the office building for the Boonah Butter Factory which was built in 1916. The Boonah Butter Factory company was sold to Jacaranda Milk Company at Booval in Ipswich. Jacaranda Milk was then taken over by Dairy Farmers Milk Co-op and in 1999 the building was purchased by the Neilsen family and then opened in 2000 as Flavours Café. During the transformation from a butter factory office to Flavours Café the heritage of the building was enhanced and wherever possible heritage material was used to bring the building to it's wonderful state as it is today.

A group of us booked a table for an early lunch. The joint was jumping when we arrived filled with people playing cards rather earnestly. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Pies with mushy peas topped the menu and you can see why. I ordered the lamb wrap and found it delicious. Some of us wanted hotter coffee. This was an ideal place for a cosy bite to eat with cheery service. Can't ask for more really. NB Don't park out the back. Park on the street.
Delicious food with plenty of choices. The menu had plenty of variety. I would recommend visiting for breakfast, lunch or diner.
We stopped for a quick lunch on our country drive on the weekend. The cafe is in a great old building. Service was very prompt and very friendly. We had a sarsaparilla, and an iced coffee with cream and ice cream - both fine. I ate the club sandwich and he had the corn and zucchini fritters - which were more like a pancake, but still tasty. I even took half my sandwich home as it was very generous and delicious. We also had sweet potato wedges with sweet chilli sauce and sour cream just needed a bit of salt. Also very generous; we took half our small serving home with us. Air con inside, tho we sat on the front verandah. Hubby said the toilets were clean and large. The owner had a nice chat with us as we left. The cafe was filling up by the time we left; obvs. a popular spot.
I had the big breakfast and coffee.nBoth were just bang on !!!nFor me personally, I loved that the scrambled eggs were milky, fluffy just right.nPlenty of large crispy bacon, rather than a limp rasher thrown on the plate.nReal country sausage. None of this American Kranski rubbish being paraded as a sausage.nBasically, a proper big plate of true English breakfast in Australia to keep you fired up for the day.nNot only do I recommend you stop and call in but I’ll call back in again when passing.
This cafe is in the building that use to be the office for the Butter factory. They serve excellent food and the service was great and prompt. There is also lots of history around the walls of the cafe showing old pictures of the butter factory.
