Hi, I booked a car in Tasmania to drive from Launceston to Hobart. On the way, I apparently made a scratch in the plastic cover of the back and Europcar managed to block my account with Commonwealth Bank Australia after three weeks while I was travelling in Malaysia. I did not consent on being fraudulently charged. I would have paid an insurance fee. I charge 11% p.a. on $1300 since 2015. Best regards, C

So apparently when you book a car online at Europcar it's NOT BOOKED it's Subject to Availability only! It's on you to answer emails blah blah!!! cos I stopped listening after he blamed me. How does a car hire company not know when and what stock they available at all times????
We had a terrible time with this company. When we got to the airport it turns out we couldn't even take the car we booked because we don't have a credit card. The staff member didn't help either. We tried to negotiate to at least get a similar car but he gave us this impression of 'it is what it is', shoving to our face that its our fault booking incorrectly. Anyway staff wasn't very helpful i would suggest booking for a different company.
Cancelled my moving truck booking stating that my 'travel plans have changed'. Reading past reviews, it seems this branch have a history of offering vehicles that they don't actually have available. A courtesy call would have been nice, or negotiation of an alteration to the booking.
Prompt Service at the pickup office at Hobart – our car was ready and once our turn came on the counter – it took just five minutes to get the car keys. We had done online check in previous night. It was almost New Car, exactly one which we booked, clean and sparkling. Though the overhead display was not working. We drove it for next 5 and half days, covering over one thousand km and returned the same at Launceston Airport drop-off point. There was lot of confusion regarding exact location for the drop-off point, as the map was showing it at a distance of 1.6 km from the airport – in between green fields. Repeated calls the help line could only confirm that there are signage on airport for the drop-off point, but no more information. Call on the number provided for the drop-off station was also landing only at their call centre, instead of landing on the drop station. Though we found it near airport only, still signage were not fool proof. The drop-off procedure was just handing over the key to some one wearing a Europcar T-shirt, with out any acknowledgement, neither joint inspection for the damages if there was any. So we were tense for next 24 hours, if the car has actually been received by Europcar and at the mercy of the Europcar, regarding damage or any other claim on the car. Finally only after receiving the Invoice after about 24 hours, did we conclude that all ended well.
We had several great experiences with Europcar over our month stay in Tasmania. They are affordable, accommodating, and friendly. Simon was a fantastic help and made sure that we were taken care of. Would recommend for other tourists.
Misleading and disappointing. I booked my car as a package with my flight. When I selected Europcar I was given an option of type of car and pick up location. I paid the fee $230 for the car rental. There was no mention of premium location surcharge fee. We were billed 627.77 even though the car was returned full of petrol and in perfect order. We expected to add insurance and elected to increase our insurance to reduce our excess to $500 from $5000- this cost $217. We signed a standard contract- items listed on left, with fees if applicable on right. At least that was what we thought. We were charged a $99.50 Premium location fee. Never mentioned and blank on the contract in the right hand column. Plus other fees. When I called to request a refund for the $99.50 I was told that it didn't matter to Europcar that the fee WAS NOT LISTED in the total price column on the right of the quote, nor mentioned on the online booking form, or that it was misleading and in my opinion unethical. I spoke to two people. We were charged $627.77 in total. Never again Europcar.
The car was great and staff were easy to deal with.
