Had a great brunch here. Good Campos coffee. Delicious food. Friendly service. Family friendly and some tasty looking cakes in the cabinet. Baked Tuscan eggs were a highlight and our kids devoured the french toast.Food: 5/5
The latest couple of reviews sadly dont seem to be a reflection of what its actually like as a customer here... I've been to esca several times for brunch over the last couple of years. Its always busy...if you want a table outside make sure to book ahead! The menu is great for brunch...lots of options to personalise, and they do some nice fresh juices and milkshakes. Personal favourite is the zuchini fritters .. .super fresh and delicious! Never had a bad dish here and the portion sizes are generous!
Booked table on line and received personal email confirmation from Jim! Sunday 9:30am, all good, personal service great! Lena attentive with lovely smile. Excellent food! Good portions with great coffee thanx
First, the coffee was good. But I have now been here a handful of times and the service has made me feel uncomfortable every time. I went back this morning because it was early and my usual cafe was not open yet. Again - amazingly unwelcoming. I ordered coffee in a takeaway cup and then sat down to wait for it. I was glared at by the owner and his offsider. Then he asked if I was sitting down to have my coffee. I said yes and then stood up to wait for it. He made some comment about the cup he was using and then appeared to talk about me to his offsider. I then sat awkwardly having my coffee. When I finished I pushed my chair in and took my empty cup to the counter and said thank you. Both of them just glared at me. Unbelievable. I overheard them discussing how they were struggling to get staff. Wonder why?? There are plenty of choices on Glebe Point Rd. I recommend walking past this one.
Great local cafe, I was staying across the road for work and Jim remembered me every day I popped in for coffee and breakfast. French toast is fantastic
Been a regular here for years. Love this place! Far more than a local Glebe institution. The coffee is outstanding, the food is reliably great, the atmosphere and vibe is always warm and cheerful. But Jimmy, Jimmy is simply the BEST!!!! Highly recommended!!!!
If you believe some of the reviews posted about Esca, then Im sure you would be confused about which ones to believe... Well here are the facts from someone with no agenda... Excellent coffee Delicious food Engaging service that gave off a welcoming community vibe Really enjoyed our experience and will be back again! UPDATE... A few months on and we have in fact been back, and once more experienced excellent coffee, delicious food and welcoming, friendly and engaging service! For me, Esca remains a comfortable and enjoyable community friendly cafe in a beautiful pocket on the edge of the city. I definitely recommend a visit!
I was dining in for breakfast in this establishment 3 days ago and noticed an exchange by a dine in customer and the owner, and overheard her complain about the exact same dish as I had myself ordered, I just wanted to point out that the dish was absolutely delicious, very reasonably priced and i was extremely happy with my dish, the review definitely does not reflect esca cafe as a wonderful establishment. I will definitely be returning to Esca in Glebe as soon as I can.
We started going here regularly once a week during the last few months on our weekend walks and love this place. The staff are always helpful and food is top quality. The menu has awesome options too We keep meaning to go back for lunch/dinner. It's one of those places where you feel like they are happy to have you there. I know that sounds silly, but it's a thing. Really good spot, highly recommended!!
My son and I had breakfast at Esca on Saturday morning after a row. We were greeted by the owner, Jim, and looked after by his very capable staff. I started with an oat flat white, which without question was the best cup of coffee I've ever had. Then I ordered their leek goat cheese omlete which was fantastic! I'll let my son write his own complements but this was a wonderful breakfast with friendly service, great food and reasonable prices. We treally enjoyed ourselves.
