Story

El Capitano Pizzeria and Bar the newest addition to Noosa Heads’ thriving restaurant and bar scene situated between Café Le Monde and Betty’s Burgers upstairs within the Ocean Breeze Resort Complex. The laneway entry on Hastings St features a bespoke “secret door” that winds its way up the stairs into a stunning nautical themed dining room and bar. The experience is reminiscent of a New York speak easy prohibition bar but with amazing pizza. It’s the type of place you would expect to see Hemingway perched at the bar. El Capitano Pizzeria and Bar is brought to you by the team behind Belmondos Organic Market, Clandestino Roasters Specialty Coffee, Café Le Monde, Noosa Cleanse and Tanglewood Organic Sourdough Bakery. The design was a collaboration between Ryan Taylor, Nathan Ramsay and Andrew Bock. The main drawcard though is the pizza. utilizing the same artisan techniques used at Tanglewood Sourdough Bakery. El Capitano Pizzas are made using ACO certified organic flour and a 72hour fermentation. The slow natural leavening gives the dough its unique flavour and makes the crumb slightly chewy and sweet. The slow ferment breaks down the acetic and phytic acid in the grain making this sourdough pizza better for digestion. Ingredients are locally sourced and fresh. The local growers and producers at the Noosa farmers markets feature heavily on the menu. El Capitano offers dine in and takeaway pizza. Soon offering pizza delivery for Noosa Heads, Noosa Junction and Noosa River. The menu offers gluten free pizza made in house, salads, antipasti and dessert. The drinks list features cocktails, craft beers, boutique wines, whiskeys, rums and tequila. The Kraken artwork wrestling the tall ship will captivate your imagination while you wait for your pizza. Live acoustic artists feature every Saturday night in the lounge which provides the perfect backdrop to this quirky bar that will no doubt soon become an iconic Noosa dining experience.
