Story

Welcome to Café Le Monde

Since ‘86 Le Monde has greeted early risers, fresh from their first morning surf, with famed coffees and delicious breakfast treats, and bid good night to many a late night reveller at the end of our live music gigs. Working around the clock to serve tasty food at fair prices to locals and visitors alike, we’re proud of our history and honoured to be thought of as a Hastings Street icon.

Our menu draws heavily on local produce and combines classics with more inventive dishes. We support local businesses like Clandestino Roasters specialty coffee, Tanglewood Organic Sourdough Bakery, Noosa Cleanse cold pressed juice and Belmondos Organic Market, sourcing produce that is free range, grass fed and where possible certified organic.

We take our food, our community and our service seriously but not ourselves. Always up for a laugh and general good times, the Le Monde experience is relaxed and fun. If you want to see this claim in all its glory, ask your waiter for a gig guide and join us for live music from Thursday to Sunday with local and interstate bands and DJ’s playing all kinds of magic. Came here for breakfast and dinner during our stay. Although the place was busy the staff were helpful and attentive. The food we had both times was excellent. I especially enjoyed the fish and chips. It was a huge portion and both the fish and the homemade chips were delicious. The breakfast was also good, although we ran out of time, but the staff kindly packed up our food in take away containers. Definitely worth a visit!

We were really disappointed with this venue. The service was very poor due the fact that nobody seemed to want to be there. After waiting a long time to be seated although there was plenty of space , we were cornered by a waitress who snapped at us for our order. After asking for water we were directed to go fetch our own. After breakfast was had yet another queuing exercise to pay! Then we got the wrong bill. This place is very mainstream packed with backpacker workers who don't really care. I would look at spending my time and money elsewhere. On a positive note the food was good.

This place is great! We came here several times. Twice for coffee in the morning and once for dinner. They had vegan options (and not just salad!) For dinner we had eggplant dip and flatbread to start and a delicious vegan yellow pumpkin curry as our main. Very friendly and helpful staff. Would highly recommend.

Walked in for dinner on a Tuesday night and had a whole Hickory Chicken for two that was on special, including 2 glasses of wine for a total of $69. The meal was absolutely great, the service was professional, all in all we had a great experience, we're going back tonight for the seafood special. No need to book in quiet period, but a must during school holidays.

Very nice and relaxing atmosphere, good food great service. I will be back. chicken is cooked to perfection. :) happy dinners :) thank you!!! so I came back the next day on Valentines day. we share a seafood platter for two $125 comes with 2 glasses of wine or champagne. I was a bit disappointed with the platter. it was a bit over price :( however it was delcious :) . Its more like a platter for 1 person. I would them 4 stars for the food but the prie really knocks back another star for them, to be fair 3.5 star I would rate them. I was still hungry after the platter so i just fill my belly with beers :))
