Nice experience riding the rail way. Gave a great view of the countryside. The staff are friendly. The ride was about 50 minutes. The town that we arrived in, was very quiet in need as well. Lots of shops, and restaurants. The rail station there is right in the heart of downtown. Definitely a good way to spend the day.

Awesome trip. Even though travelling as cheaply as I can, I am glad I splash out for this. The scenery is amazing as you leave Dunedin and enter the beautiful pine forests and river flowing gorges. You can stand between the carriages and enjoy the view from there. Toilets are onboard as well as reasonably priced snacks and drinks.

Loved this train trip. Great views and commentary. Only problem was when you are on left side leaving Dunedin you do not get a good view of gorge. On the way back I stood on a platform between carriages to get pictures. The train does not turn around so you stay on the same side.

Really beautiful building, Dalton mosaic tiles, dating 1906. The art gallery showcased local artists. The NZ sports hall of fame was worth the $6 entry fee. The outside gardens, with the pretty boxus hedging were nice and lots of visitors were milling about, quite a popular tourist destination when we visited. A really nice space all round. Cool place to visit.

So neat. There is train attraction trips as well which travel all over to secluded locations. Very good spot to stop if you have the time
