Worst experience, Went to ED last night from Balclutha for our 1 year old son, wait there for 6 hours, no doctor there, Another thing they don't have room for patient they let us in the stay with same ward where covid positive patients were waiting. Honestly it was my first time to go Dunedin ED going and it is the worst experience of my life.
My wife just had our second baby via c-section. All of the doctors, surgeons, anaesthesiologists and midwives were great. Unfortunately only 90% of of the nurses were great. One senior nurse was belittled my wife's pain and critisied her so much for seeking help that she didn't want to ring the bell again. Awful woman with 0/10 bedside manner.
Kia ora! If you're looking for the best place to have your baby in Dunedin, head to Dunedin Hospital's Queen Mary Maternity Ward. It's in the main hospital building on the second floor – just follow the signs once you're inside.nQueen Mary Maternity Ward is split into three parts: there's a spot for mums-to-be to get checked before birth, a delivery area with seven cozy suites, and a post-birth space where you and your baby will be looked after.nGood news if you're planning a water birth – some of the suites have tubs! How cool is that?nVisiting hours for family excluding dads are from 2pm to 8pm. Plus, you can nominate one extra person besides your partner to stay with you or visit whenever they like.nAnd here's a helpful tip: if English isn't your first language and you're finding it tough, don't worry. You can ask for a free interpreter. It's all part of the service.nBefore you leave, don't forget to ask for a free handmade wool cap for your baby. They're made by kind folks in the community and given out as a special gift.nSo, if you're expecting in Dunedin, Dunedin Hospital's Queen Mary Maternity Ward is the place to be. It's got everything you need for a happy, healthy start. Cheers to that!
Worst hospital.nStaff need to actually care and they don't. They think sending people who are in pain and losing blood should just be given pills to pop and sent on their way. They mucked up a simple biopsy , what was meant to be a day trip as dunedin is only an hour away turned into an overnight trip with two whole days in hospital unprepared. Communication between doctors, nurses and patients is messy!! Every single one saying something different gets pretty confusing for your patients. Or maybe you want it that way so they think you're doing something when you actually have no idea what you're doing. Don't get me started on STUDENT nurses and how they're working basically for free, probably carrying the team in that place. Lack of information to patients, making patients go a long way foe visits to be treated like scum. It's gross. Sort your hospital out peoples lives are at risk !!!
Amazing doctors and nurses for my son's day surgery. They were so good at explaining things to a 6 year old and gave us parents so much support. A really positive experience for a scary situation
