One of Dunedin's best free attractions. Had a disgusting smelling corpse flower a few months ago but that is gone now - was a sight to behold. Would definitely recommend coming here in spring/summer over the winter months but it's still worthwhile for a stroll around the park to get some well needed exercise and relaxation. Plants are all labelled well so you get a good insight into a wide variety of flora. There's a smallish glasshouse and cafe located toward the centre of the park which provides a nice area to relax and take a breath on a cold day, watching the ducks on the pond. Excellent location for family picnics and small company outings such as a kiwi classic - fish and chips in the park.

An aviary up in top gardens with parrots galore, feed the pigeons and ducks out of your hand at the pond in lower gardens (free birdseed available in abundance from the main building) playground for the children, and then a stroll through the gardens. Cafe onsite too. Take a train ride around grounds for a small charge. Many other attractions far too numerous to list here. Highly recommend! Stunning

What a surprise. Extensive gardens with native plants and plants from around the world. Free admission. The gardens are so large we needed the map to find our way back. Some parts are quite steep. There are ponds, interesting statues and a hot house too. A large aviary as well with interesting collection of parrots and macaws. There is also a nice cafe and free parking. Certainly we'll worth visiting and allow as much time as you can.

A must place to visit if you get a chance. Whether it's a casual afternoon outing/walk/lunch/picnic with the family, the place can be an awesome choice. You can enjoy sun bathing, while the kids can play/cycle or enjoy the swings and slides. While the fitness enthusiasts can take the walking trail all the way to the top, the elderly people can enjoy the tour bus with the friendly guide or feed the ducks (collect the duck food from the cafeteria for free) with the grandkids. With lots of greenery, beautifully maintained garden (especially the cherry blossoms section during the season) is a nice place for wedding photography.

Great place to have a family getting together. If you head into the info center there are bags of bird feed for the ducks and some of the birds are friendly enough to climb into your hands. Nice playground to entertain little guys
