First time reviewing, thought it was warranted considering the poor quality of service, and wanted to share my opinion in the hopes it may help other consumers in making decisions on where to seek medical help. I found the manner of reception staff incompatible to what I consider to be effective patient communication. To ensure that I never make the mistake of booking an appointment at this practice again, I’ve saved their phone number in my address book as ‘do not use’, to ensure I never make the mistake of going here again.
Front desk very unhelpful on the phone today. Receptionist sounded like an older lady was impatient, dismissive and curt, bordering on hostile. I usually treat negative reviews with suspicion, as I know that customers can be demanding, entitled and rude, but this isn't one of those times. I work in customer service. I know the public can grind you down. But I was polite to a fault, and yet the receptionist's manner was unpleasant and completely uncalled for. Judging from previous reviews, it seems that I'm not the first one to have had this experience here.
Dr Gawne has been my primary Doctor for many years now, he is very thorough and does any necessary testing I might need. He is always empathic, friendly and truly listens. He really does care about the health of his patients. This has been my go to clinic for 14 years. My family have been coming here for years also. I highly recommend him as a Doctor. Please note this is a General Practice and charges standard medical fees, with a Medicare rebate.
I am so disappointed in you today, Ben Powell. Our family has a very long history with you and your practice. The way you spoke to my husband today was rude, condescending and unacceptable. Your father would never have spoken to a patient in such a way. Mike was a big part of my life and I think he would be as disappointed in you today as I am.
Recently moved to area, needed a doctor to look at my 21 month year old issue with gums, not that I was asked what the issue was on the phone and told would charge $82. Thought this was a family friendly area, will definitely not be using this as my regular practice. Rather go back to my doctor in new farm who is excellent and free. Very disappointing experience.
I have seen Dr Ben Powell on various occasions - he can only be described as a very well informed medical practitioner, thorough and a very friendly and easy going person. For those looking for a new GP would suggest you ignore any negativity you read here about this doctor. It makes no sense. Front office staff also excellent.
The doctor that I have seen here in actually quite good. My gripe is with the fact they won't bulk bill even if you are a concession card holder and also with the receptionists. I feel this practice is more interested in $$$$ than the patients' well being. The receptionists all middle aged women in my opinion, are not terribly nice - gossip among themselves in ear-shot of patients in the waiting area and appear rather self consumed. They charge $20 for you to get a prescription written without even seeing a doctor and on two occasions now have not even got that right. I just don't think they care. On principal and due to their rudeness and their lack of ability to transmit messages correctly I will not be returning to this clinic.
The doctors here are alright, but the real issue is the lady at the front desk. There is one lovely lady and 2 or 3 dragons who couldn’t be helpful if they tried. I have been going to this doctor for years, paying money for a sub par service and sass on the phone and on the way out. Unless you’re a true ascot mum, and enjoy that sort of behaviour, you can get better service and a free appointment at any bulk billing service around Brisbane.
Just called to book an appointment as I am very unwell with a throat infection/cold! The website advised to call to make the booking as I am showing cold and flu symptoms however I have passed a COVID test. I called to make the booking. The reception bluntly answers the phone. I explained I have passed a negative covid test and need an appointment. She asked if I was a new patient. I said yes and she replied "no appointments" There are 5 appointments available on the website. As a medical receptionist myself I am absolutely appalled...
Visited this practice for the first time today. I found the receptionist very friendly and welcoming. Dr Powell was very thorough and knowledgeable. My family and I will definitely be back.
