I’ve lived in Deakin res for 2 years now and I’ve loved it. A special mention to all staff for being extremely friendly and helpful through hard times and busy days. I really appreciate all the running around you guys do for us and the patience you have. The events have been amazing, like the zoo, waterparks and movie nights. The 24 hour support has been really helpful. Amenities like the washers, dryers, common cooking appliances, movie room, music room and game room are all amazing and FREE! Deakin res had been home as an international student and I’m grateful, always.
Res Deakin has truly been my home away from home! The staff are incredibly supportive and always ready to help. There are fun events almost every week, which made it so easy to meet new people, make amazing friends, and create unforgettable memories. Living here has helped me grow so much personally and socially. It’s also super convenient being so close to classes — I can just walk to uni in minutes! Thanks to all the events and outings, I’ve explored so much of Melbourne and had the best experience living at Res. Couldn’t have asked for a better place to call home!
Terrible experience at Res.nnMy roommates were terrible and had lack of respect for others and general hygiene/cleanliness. I complained to staff multiple times and they said they would speak to them but nothing changed.nnWe received emails multiple times about the cleanliness in the house threatening us with breaches and potential cleaning fees — because of these roommates. I would end up caving and cleaning up for them to not receive a breach/fee.nnMultiple times one of my roommates would be smoking grass if you know what I mean inside and even though security was alerted by myself and another roommate nothing happened and they continued doing it.nnThe unhygienic roommates also had a habit of staying up until 3-4am pretty much everyday with their friends in their room — please be aware these walls are THIN. It was impossible to get a good nights rest here, the noise curfew was not respected and the staff did nothing.nnBelieve me I tried communicating with my roommates about these issues, multiple in person chats, 3 x ‘house meetings’, private messages to them directly, the Res staff were my last resort and were absolutely useless.nnI also had pipes issues in my walls that made loud thumping noises multiple times a day. The house was dirty all the time, some of the stove tops don’t work, there is severe mould in the bathrooms too.nnI also had my things food and cosmetics stolen from the shared spaces many times.nnOn top of that, their process with deliveries is very annoying. Sometimes you have to wait 2-3 days before the res staff even email you about your parcel being avail to collect and it’s so frustrating because what’s the point in paying express shipping when they are so slow anyway…nnThe older ladies at reception are also incredibly rude/unprofessional for no reason.nnRes is INCREDIBLY expensive and NOT WORTH IT AT ALL.nnDo not live here. There are much better, cheaper options.
WORST!!!!nSmall Sized rooms, Poor amenities, money crunching machine and misbehaving staffs who have destroyed my experience in Australia as a new comer. Special mention to the campus life officer who has it made it the most shittiest experience of my life. Thanks for being for so unwelcoming to the international students.nOne should never opt for deakin res for his/her stay. THE WORST EXPERIENCE!!!!!
The absolute worst key card system known to mankind. Whoever came up with this idea is rivaling Einstein for the greatest mind. Unbelievable stuff, other than that all good, clean and good facilities.
