Good location and a good place to stay for families — there’s a very nice park and playground within a five minute walk. Easy access to shops and dining. Attached cafe for morning coffee and breakfast, and a nice restaurant within the hotel itself.nnRooms were clean and modern — loved the shower, first hotel I’ve been to that has good proper water pressure — but I do wish there had been just a few more amenities. The kitchenette had a sink and cutlery/crockery but no microwave, which made most food preparation/reheating takeaway near impossible. Shower caps were available but none of the other accessories I’ve been provided with at other Art Series hotels toothbrush, cotton pads, cotton tips, razor and shaving soap etc. A desk but no dining table or other suitable surface for eating meals or having a coffee; no armchairs or other seating, so if it’s more than one person staying as it was with the 4-person suite we booked you’ll have to have one person eating at the desk and everyone else awkwardly perched on the beds having their meals. There is a balcony with outdoor seating but in the middle of winter with pouring rain it wasn’t a viable option.nnOverall though, a well-priced and clean, pleasant place to stay. Just bear in mind that housekeeping is only on request.
Firstly great location, short walk to train station. The rooms are well appointed, decorated nicely just the bathroom a little too small. Unfortunately it is the service that let's this place down. They replaced the towels after day 3 but didn't remove the old towels. Didn't replace the toilet paper the sheets don't fit the bed, a doonah is in between 2 flat sheets, the carpet filthy in some areas. The staff not overly friendly either. All that being said I would stay here again purely for the location.
Second stay at the Chen. Will always want to come back. Spacious rooms and nicely designed. Clean and convenient. Good location. Wonderful staff and service. Welcome gift for ALL member, present.. Although tiny... One of my favourite Accor hotels in Victoria... Many Asian shops around the area.
Worst apartment building, 40+ floors and only three lifts, at least 1 broken lift a week. Today two lifts were broken and we waited 5 minutes for a lift and the journey down took 5 minutes because it stopped every floor. I can appreciate that lifts break and things can happen but the occurrence is far too common for this to be a coincidence. Even on a good day with all three lifts working, they must have the energy saving setting on because somehow not every lift is in action. Building managers, please get your act together and find a better service provider for these shitty lifts.nnHotel reception staffs, please ask hotel guests to use the express lifts because they shouldn’t be contributing to this congestion if they have their own designated lifts.nLastly, renters beware, the price of the rent is not worth the lift congestion and constant building issues
Irresponsible hotel management and no security whatsoever for the residents that live here. If you send any parcels here, expect it to be stolen. No accountability from the hotel management for ruining the residents lives.nnMail room has no security whatsoever, even apartments from a decade ago knows to install a security door to peoples mailboxes. The storage rooms are also designed terribly, you don’t even need an access card to go into the storage areas, but you need to swipe to get out??? Oh no, it’s not like anyone knows how to wedge a door open… Basically if you store anything here or order anything online, expect it to be stolen.nnAnybody can just drive into the garages, press the button and the hotel reception just opens the garage door no questions asked. So if you have a car expect that to be stolen at some point too. The garage door is always blocked by delivery vans and trucks that don’t live here, and people who live here are supposed to just put up with this nonsense?nnThe lobby constantly smells like a dumpster fire, because it is. The building rubbish bins are right behind the lobby and you can definitely tell…nnThere are also always people loitering and smoking in front of the building. Especially the owner of the Zero Mode cafe downstairs who seems to be smoking 24/7. Nobody wants your second hand smoke!!!nnSpeaking of smoke, the restaurants downstairs has their air exhausts on the side facing the main street whitehorse rd, pumping the dirty oily air directly onto the pedestrians, the air is visibly hazy and smells disgusting on the street where people are supposed to walk.nnFinally, the building water pumps break down all the time. No water to shower, drink or even to flush the toilet. The lifts are out of service constantly. The gym sanitiser bottles are empty most of the time, and the underground carpark in building 2 smells like rotten food.nnDO NOT live here of you value your own health, privacy and security!!!
