Darwin private hospital is a well kept and maintained facility from the grounds to the wards - although not as large as you would find in most other states, it is still reasonably modern and well equipped with fantastic service and support staff.nJust note that the public car park requires payment if intending on staying longer than one hour. Free parking is offered for up to an hour - but remember to still obtain a ticket from the car park ticket vending machines which are located through out the car park. Tickets must be displayed on your vehicle dashboard otherwise you may be in for a nasty surprise upon returning to your vehicle.nUpon admission there was a slight delay in the wait time to get processed due to a number of people attempting to get admitted at the same time, with only one person at reception to handle the influx there was a slight delay. Allow yourself ample time to get processed and admitted upon your arrival.nThe experience I had in dealing with the medical staff, the doctors the nurses and all - I found professional and well mannered and provide an exceptional level of service.nThe rooms and selves look a little dated and tired however the cleanliness and maintenance is off a very high standard.nBeing a private hospital you do you have the option of a single or shared room however, each case I guess would be different depending on your level of private health cover and what your preferred option would be. Check the costs and your excess with your health fund to get an accurate figure of what your costs of staying in hospital will be.nIn the times that we are in, there is a quick Covid-19 testing station setup in the entrance where by your temperature is taken and a series of questions need to be answered to satisfy the criteria to allow you to enter.
I am thoroughly disappointed with my experience at DPH.nIn December 2023, I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Brown gynecologist due to irregular periods. After reviewing my test reports, she assured me that everything was normal and there was no cause for concern. Despite expressing my concerns about the possibility of a certain issue, she reassured me that it wasn't possible. She also took a sample for testing and promised to personally call me with the results, but I never received that call. Despite numerous attempts to follow up, the clinic was unresponsive. In February, when I finally reached the doctor, I was informed that the results were normal and that a voicemail had been left for me which I either missed or never received.nHowever, in March, I sought a second opinion from an overseas doctor who promptly diagnosed me, with the issue I was concerned about initially, based on my symptoms and recommended further testing. This revelation left me devastated, as I had believed everything was fine all along. On second visit, she confirmed the diagnosis, and I was prescribed medication.nThe emotional, mental, and financial toll of this experience, including the $200 visit cost, has been significant. I will not be returning to DPH.
I had a tonsillectomy with Dr. Hemi Patel. He was very lovely and all the staff have been incredibly caring and knowledgeable. They even accommodated my vegan diet with a delicious lentil curry. I've felt very secure and comfortable for my entire visit. It has made a painful procedure much easier to deal with! I'd definitely recommend going with Dr. Patel.
Kerry and the nurses in recovery are excellent, along with Linda and the nurses in admissions. Made me feel relaxed and important both pre and post surgery
