The hotel is in a fairly good location, not too far from the main rail station by walking, but not quite in the heart of the city. The hotel is comfortable and the service was good except for one day where no room service occurred. There is a good breakfast if you want to eat in. The bar is also good, but needs some work in assuring that they capture the right person in the right room. Being told I had dinner at checkout was great, but the manager said I wasn't the only person incorrectly invoiced for a meal. The reception area is great to have a seat. I enjoyed my time here. I would happily stay again in this hotel and in Newcastle upon the Tyne.
We arrived in near 40c heat and the large foyer was brilliantly cool, and thankfully so was the room. Multi Storey car park adjoining the hotel made it perfect for us. Very close to the Railway Station too and not far for the City Centre or the River Tyne. The views admittedly weren't fantastic as our room overlooked the Post Depot and a College but the inside was so lovely you can forgive that. Double height modern foyer and 3 glass backed lifts. Rooms clean, comfortable and very spacious. Breakfast was delicious self serve buffet When we are next visiting Newcastle l would definitely stay here again.
Firstly, we were greeted by Amy on reception who certainly gave us a five star booking in process. Dan in the hotel bar was also exceptional. They both went above and beyond the call of duty. Having worked in both front facing customer service and also conference and banqueting/catering over the years, I’d certainly want to work along side these two particular members of staff. Fantastic work! Thank you for a wonderful stay and making my birthday more special! We will definitely be back!! Steve
Great hotel. Sometimes a bit slow upon check-in but always very customer centric. Staying on the Club floor with access to lounge is amazing when you travel in work as you don’t get stuck in your room. Go to the lounge, do some work, have a drink and a snack and enjoy the company of the amazing Sally who is a phenomenal hostess. Also great that you can enjoy a small breakfast in the lounge - in peace and quiet
Fantastic hotel with staff who could not be more helpful and forthcoming. We had an excellent Christmas with you - thank you so much. Hotel is relaxed and well run with a great pool and spa area. It is just behind the central station but still quiet and a 5min walk to the centre of town or quayside or castle keep. Our family room was nice and spacious with all of the conveniences you would expect from a high end hotel and quite a nice view of the Tyne not a great view of it TBH, but we liked it! We will definitely be back
Firstly, I'd say that staff were friendly and approachable. We arrived at about 16.30 and the check in system was down so we had to complete paper check in, staff didn't know if we'd paid. This was also well after the 3pm check in time and the rooms weren't ready. We headed up to the room and they had given us a king even though we requested a twin. The bedroom had been cleaned and was tidy, we then had a look in the bathroom and the sink was full of sick and looked like someone had tried to wash it out, but they needed a plumber so just left it. On our way back to reception we met someone who had been given a key to a room that already had people in it. This made me paranoid for the whole trip that someone would walk into our room. We complained about the sick in the sink and reminded them that we'd booked a twin. The receptionist was super apologetic and got us a free drink in the bar. About an hour later our new room was ready and she confirmed that although it was a king someone would be up later to make it into a twin. This never happened. For breakfast they have a menu or the buffet option. I wanted something off the menu but no one came to take the order. After finally managing to flag someone down I ordered and then waited about 40 minutes for the food to arrive. I think she forgot to put the order in as I had to ask where it was. We had tried to book a massage in the spa the week before and the lady on the phone laughed and said we had to book much further in advance. We did use the pool though, but it is very small so a booking system may be more beneficial. The receptionist wasn't sure if we can use the pool if we aren't using the spa, but you can. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and I had a great nights sleep. This feels like a 2/3 star hotel masquerading as a 4 star. Wouldn't personally go back as there's just too many issues, but feels like it's so close to being a decent hotel.
Hotel is great, very friendly staff and the location is excellent for both those coming by car or train. Slightly discounted parking is available at £10 for 24hours at the time I stayed. I was checked in by a lovely member of staff called Amy who despite dealing with some very arrogant people before me remained professional and pleasant throughout. I stayed for business and used the lounge for a bit of work although the reception bar got rowdy as you would expect on a Friday night. The room itself was well equipped having everything I could want. My only slight criticism of this hotel is the walls were a bit too thin. I could hear other guests throughout the night which might be more annoying for lighter sleepers.
Love using this hotel on a regular basis. Restaurant and Reception staff are extremely accommodating. Lovely room size and extremely clean. Dropped my phone down the elevator and it was recovered within an hour. Absolute phenomenal turnaround. Would definitely recommend.Rooms: 5/5
