We were really disappointed with our stay at Coogee Bay, we chose to stay here to celebrate our anniversary and it fell really short of our expectations of a four star hotel offering.nWe had booked a room which was on the top floor without knowing there was no lift access. Although we had assistance for one of our cases on the way to our room, you are expected to carry suitcases up narrow flights of stairs.nOur biggest issue was with the cleanliness and smell of the bathroom, which I politely brought to the attention of the duty manager at the time. I was promptly told a cleaner would be sent to sort it out but I didn’t feel I had appropriate opportunity to fully express my concerns before being dismissed. It was clear I wasn’t listened too when the bathroom remained unsatisfactory after a cleaner attended. As the photos show, there is a clear lack of attention to detail which should come with a four star hotel. Not once did any member of staff check in to see if our issues had been resolved to our satisfaction.nAnother thing to mention is that the music from the courtyard below plays loud into the night even at 11pm on a Tuesday evening when no one is in the courtyard. There are gaps in the doors which also prevent sound proofing. The room shutters do not block the bright lights from outside making it very difficult to get a good night sleep.nWe would recommend considering other options if you are looking for a relaxing and comfortable stay.
I have never in my life been so appalled by staff members behaviour. The old Asian lady working in the gambling bar yelled at my sister and I who had been at the venue for a total of 20 minutes, went to the bathroom and then her and two other security guards starting banging down the door saying we needed to get out immediately because two people weren’t allowed in the bathroom together. Then kicked us out for absolutely no reason while slinging insults and racist comments at us. I will be taking this further because they will not be getting away with such disgusting behaviour.
Had the lunch Chicken Parmi for $25. It was maybe 150g, and a few chips. Very small portion.Definitely not blown away. Dont come here if you are actually hungry unless youre prepared to spend 2x on a double serving. There are better pubs that do chicken schnitzel. You're simply paying for the view and the updated decor.
We joined to play the trivia and the bar staff were absolutely lovelyyy and set us up a table about an hour before it was due to start! The only problem was the guy who was the “quiz master” who was ridiculously aggressive and accused us of lying about joining the trivia, getting in all of our faces and pretending we had purposefully joined late to cause him trouble. He was 100% jacked up on steroids or on something else to be that angry about a group of 6 wanting to be a part of the trivia. Definitely do not go to the trivia if you want to have a good time!!!!
It’s actually a nice bar, pool, DJ, nice drinks, a lot of people BUT they just kick random people out of the bar. My boyfriend was dancing and having fun and they just took him out very seriously and aggressive as if he was doing something bad. They are racists or whatever. We don’t go there anymore. To the management: please check on your security guys. They are very unprofessional. Very sad.nnEdit: 1 month later it happened again to my friend from England. He wasn’t even drunk, just spilled a little bit of beer by mistake and two guys took him outside immediately. Passive aggressive. You can not just kick random people out. Very unprofessional.
