Not a bad place. Cheap, standard Vietnamese dishes. I got the crispy chicken with tomato rice alongside an avocado smoothie. Chicken was a bit dry but not bad. Rice was lightly tomatoey but the avocado smoothie was the star of the night. Super creamy, refreshing and lightly sweet.
It is ok. fresh veges, food tastes 6/10• Veges 10/10• Three colour drink 2/10 nah nah I didn't like it! Services 7/10. Good Locations• we were on the crossing light and we straight to this restaurant because we were both hungry• What it really needs to improve is services, when the customers are seated you need to give them water or tea, we were waiting with empty cups no water given. after you give the customer the menu, please you need to come and take the orders. I constantly turn around to get someone to take our order. the customer no need to raise a hand to order unless the customer was having a meal and needed something else to add to her/his food. It is really good if your service learns and works professionally• I hope it will be better next time•
The Chili Beef Soup Bún Bò Huế $17.50 was very mediocre. The taste was all over the place, the beef was somewhat ok, but the soup was far from great. The whole thing felt like a jumbled mess that could have been prepared better. The noodles most likely weren't rice noodles, which is a shame. The quantity for a medium size was good, although an additional $1 was charged for it on the Uber Eats app for some reason. The soup had a fishy taste to it. The soft drink $4.50 made the dish manageable. Still, the food was delivered quite fast, all things considered but I didn't have a good experience.
Every once in a while, I come here for a BBH. It is not the best, pretty standard. A couple of friends told me that if I want the best BBH, I should come here. I realised that it is better to have it here than through uberEats, the broth gets water down because of the excess water that they boil the noodles in
The restaurant is named after Hue, the ancient capital of Vietnam. The restaurant boasts a special menu of Hue dishes, even decorating things Hue style. But make no mistake, the food is not Hue. The Bun bo Hue Hue beef noodle soup was definitely some sort of beef soup, but distinctively Southern overly sweet taste, lack of lemongrass, comes with a type of pork sausage and rice noddles unfamiliar to Hue cusine, etc. Those who praise it apperently never taste authentic beef soup from Hue. Variation in itself is Ok, but to boast a Hue styled restaurant like that without authenticity is problematic.
The bun bo hue is really good, lots of depth and flavour. Also there's great mixture of sliced pork and beef, pork loaf, prawn loaf, pork blood. Best bun bo hue I've had on Victoria St. Vegetables were also very fresh and plenty of it. It's gonna be my regular go to place for bun bo hue.
There really is only one thing to order here; the Bun Bo Hue. It’s their specialty and they do it better than anyone else in Melbourne. The broth is pork based and spicy not too spicy. Different cuts of meats in here; including slice pork, slice beef, pig blood curd and sliced pork sausage. This is heaven in a bowl of soup. I’ll generally order this with a side of prawn spring rolls, which pairs well.
I've been to CoDo a couple of times now, seeing as so many Vietnamese restaurants on Vic St have closed due to Covid, no business. I had the Regular Beef Pho with Rare and Braised Beef, Med $13.5 Which was nice. I think there was an overdose of Msg in it, as I was super thirsty and brain tingling afterwards. A few pieces of the Beef was rather tough, but I injoyed the Pho overall. I tried Bahn Bo Nhan Thit for the first time, rice flour pancakes with minced meat and sauce. $10 It was delish! Pretty good service and at least I got acknowledged, better than another Vietnamese Restaurant I went to in Preston.
This Vietnamese restaurant have another branch in Sunshine. Their signature dish is the Hue style chilli beef soup. The broth is deep in flavour and have a nice balance of meat and spiciness. The dry noodle is also great and you can choose to have it either with egg or rice noodles. The spring rolls were pretty average. Food - 8 Service - 8 Vibe - 8 Price - $$
I love this place. It's difficult to stand out amongst a sea of Vietnamese restaurants but this place does and does it well. If you've had the pleasure of visiting Vietnam and are looking for a place that can dish out a mean Com Tam like you'd get over there then look no further.
