Clancy's Fish Pub

About

Filled with vibrant colours and somewhat ’fishy’ decor Clancy’s attracts a diverse crowd of people. Musos, office workers, artists, and those somewhere inbetween flock to Clancy’s Freo with a common bond... to socialise and consume all things

Story

The original fish pub and leader of the pack, dishing out great beer, tasty treats and fine music since 1996. This true Fremantle icon has been a destination for many a year, welcoming families, corporates, hipsters and all-comers, through the doors of this classic Freo establishment.

The first to bedeck the fishy décor and vibrant colours, the first to stock and support local craft beer and wine, and a champion of Fremantle’s rich musical history. From first time acts and school bands, to indie hipsters and world renowned touring acts, samba, dance and local living legends of the music industry.

Throw in a quiz night, rock ‘n’ roll bingo and poetry nights, and there is always something happening on the Clancy’s stage. A great pub menu famous for its classic fish and chips and legendary seafood platter, to be enjoyed with a glass of wine or beer while the kids run wild in Princess May Park, adjacent to the pub. Truly a pub for all.

We now do group functions too. If you want to book a function for 20 or more people please email [email protected] for more info.

Step back in time at Fremantle's Clancy's Fish Pub. I haven't been here for years and what joy to see the old floorboards, mismatched Furniture, chilled vibe with the very cool music playing. I had the $15 lunch special Battered fish wrap with chips. A feast for the eyes and generous serve. Yummy The staff behind the bar mixed me a refreshing non-alcoholic gin spritzer. Outdoor seating front and back too. Love this place
We had dinner there, we had the Crab Fettuccine, Lamb Shoulder and Cauliflower florets, very disappointed with the food, the cauliflower was tasteless, there was no seasoning. The crab Fettuccine tasted with a bit of tomato sauce, very tasteless! Nice outdoor sitting area for a drink, and friendly staff.
Good atmosphere, but unfortunately the food was disappointing for what we paid. The chips tastes soft as if they weren’t fresh, and the Balinese style curry had tofu pieces in it that were dry from the top probably reheated or it has been sitting out for a while. Monday to Thursday there are special offers.
Nice setup , very cosy and authentic . Unfortunately the kitchen was closed at 2030 on Friday , hence 4 star only . The only option to go with the stout was a pizza or chilli peanuts . The peanuts were great. Tim tam stout was unbelievably good ...
Nice atmosphere. Friendly staff. Food all tasted good and came out a reasonable time. No table service was a bit of a waiting ordering drinks and food had to wait at 2 location to get both. The line for food orders did get long during time there. Rear outdoor area was nice overlooking park area. Seating was good all round indoors and outdoors front & rear. Street parking was good at time disabled bays out front. Access was good for mobility impaired all around.
I've been to the Clancy's at Applecross and Dunsborough, and this is my first at Freo. Went on a winter Monday and they have chilli mussel Monday specials, 2 for 1, for sure, go for it! My spouse and I agreed that of the 3 Clancy's we've been to, this one has the best chilli mussels at the hot level, it was simply fantastic, coupled with buttered bread. Ompphh! Nice inside and outdoor seating along the quiet road or looking into the greens and the majesty church building. Keep a lookout for the offers and weekday $15 lunch specials. You don't want to miss them!
My happy place. The staff are 99.9% fabulous. The food is to die for, though spend five minutes there and you'll go searching for the fountain of youth so you can spend more time there. So many different areas to either rant and roar* or chill completely out**. A book library. Lots of local info, copies of street press, and flyers for all manner of musical and artistic distractions both on site and off. A drinks range that could coming back 'til you're 236yo and still not cover the lot. Knowledgeable bar staff, and though I've been only going there for about eight months, the consistency of top barkeeps, mixologists, wait staff, cooks, and managers tells you mostly all about what the place is about. I've cruised past on nights when Google Maps tells you they're still open, but sensibly they've pulled stumps a wee bit early. What are the staff doing? Sitting with outside lights off, doors closed and locked, neon signs switched to the 'Come back tomorrow' position, they're inside having staffies, enjoying each others' company, decompressing after another amazing day in hispitalityville. I nod, wave, smile, recently shoved some comp festival tickets through the crack in the door to the duty manager, and walked off whistling, humming, or singing a sea shanty.* Or a bluegrass/faux gospel song.*** Or Sgt Hulka song.**** Me: so many years on this planet. So many years treading the boards. So many years in the music industry, so many years a hospo trainer, 10 years travelling this land mass in about one month's time. This place is in definitely in my top five venues for food, drinks, music, good cheer, meeting friends + acquaintances + randoms and having life-changing experiences. Add a dart board and a pool table and they'd be top three. Translation: awww yeah, it's a bit good, eh? ;- * Sea Shanty night with The Lost Quays on first Monday of the month. 7pm for 7.30pm.**** ** Clancy's Country and Bluegrass Club with The Hamilton Hillbillies+ friends/guests on third Sunday of the month.**** *** Live, original music including pub choir, musical trivia, local, state, and non-WA artists on practically every other night of the week.**** **** Check local guides. Clancy's Freo, I have to ask: are you seeing anyone?
A wonderful lunch here with my mom in-law. We absolutely enjoyed the atmosphere, it was very wine yard meets with a artsy jazz cafe sort of vibe. The food DELICIOUS and well, portioned for those who are watching the calories. At the bar, they offered a large variety of drinks and there were some "Moms to be" friendly non alcoholic drinks, the "Gin" and Tonic was so refreshing and just hit that sweet spot for those summer days. For those who are looking for a night out, just to enjoy the vibe OR you want to treat the family - Give this place a go. Will be coming here again for a good time with family.
Always love coming here for dinner. I can either bring dog/s I’m looking after or see a few friendly pups sat with their owners. Food is great and so is staff
Had a great time there with some friends. There's a really good vibe to the place. Love the jazz being played as background music as it's a nice change from the music you get elsewhere plus it sets the mood. Good beer. Clean toilets. Great verandah. Will be going again, I'm sure.
