Warning: You may pay 30% or more going here as opposed to other Choices Flooring stores! My partner was referred to Choice Flooring Bulleen through an industry connection and was told that they would look after her. On this basis she did not get any further quotes. Things did not start well, the sales rep really pushed the hard sell even when told the sale would happen he kept pushing us to lock in dates as they were “filling fast” – the pressure kept mounting to confirm dates and give a deposit. There was so much of the hard sell to close the deal, it lead us to assume he wanted the sales figures in the current month to make his budget. Once we locked in the installation date we received an email confirming them. We also received a phone call on the Friday prior to the Wednesday installation date confirming the installers attendance, no date was mentioned so we assumed it was for the dates confirmed. Then on Monday the installer turned up two days earlier than the booking. At the time there were other trades people working on the property who had timed their work to be completed by the date arranged for installation, this set the cat amongst the pigeons for all of us. The installer was angry, and little did we know this was just the beginning. When the installer was finalising the install, there were six boxes of flooring remaining or 10sqm. We mentioned to the installer that we would seek a refund. A short time later we received a call from their offices telling us the materials were meant for another job and they would arrange for someone to pick them up. I had counted the boxes upon delivery and it matched up to the 63sqm quoted on the job so we refused to hand them back. This made me question the original quotation and I measured the spaces and found that 63sqm was 10sqm over the required 53sqm (factoring in wastage). When I raised this with the sales rep on a Friday he was defensive and would not listen to me or answer my questions. The following week, l received a call from the sales rep offering to refund the materials at $47sqm and charge us a $70 restock fee. So he expected us to still pay installation fees for the 10sqm. i.e. The full price we paid for these included the installation. When I queried this, he refused to listen, spoke over me and hung up on me after saying we had a clash of personalities. This got me really suspicious and I went to several other Choices flooring stores asking for estimates on what they would charge us for the same job, for which they consistently quoted about $86 sqm for flat spaces and $120 per step fully installed. Compared to our original quote of $134 per sqm for 63sqm, there was a substantial difference. I sent an email to the owner outlining our grievances who offered to restock the boards, refund the installation fees and a $600 discount as good will. Even with the discount the cost was $113 per sqm for flat areas and $176 per step as explained by the owner. If we had got quotes from other Choices Flooring stores we could have saved 30% or more. We also paid the installer a flat fee in cash for removing tiles in the entrance hall, which on the original quote was the area which was “over measured”. The fee we paid him was excessive for that space and there was no offer to reduce/refund that at all. We were happy to let that slide as he was a good bloke and caught in the middle. My advice to you is shop around - If you get a quote here go to another Choices Flooring shop you may find yourself saving up to 30% or more for the same product from the same franchise. Make sure you confirm the actual dates of attendance and make sure you are not over quoted, count the boxes. It is a sad and sorry day to have to go to these extremes but better safe than sorry like us.

Who places an Advertising catalogue in The Sunday Herald Sun, only so customers can get pissed off when they find out the product is not available. These guys are soooo unprofessional and don’t know what they are doing. Buyer beware

I just wanted to say thanks for all your help with my flooring questions. I didn't know you had 140 retail flooring stores in Australia but it doesn't surprise me as the staff were really helpful. I was not sure if I should go for carpet but the luxury vinyl looks really good in my playroom and family room at home.

My experience at the Bulleen store was excellent. I was looking for some carpet and the helpful female staff understood my needs. Totally recommend.
