"Charlie Baxters, is an independently owned and operated free house.Home to an ever-changing selection craft beer, there is always something new and interesting to try from a variety of New Zealands Independent breweries.We also host a fine selection of wines and spirits.Our food menu might be small, but don’t dismiss us for that. Everything from the seasoning on our fries to our slow cooked BBQ ribs is home made with love and it shows!Located in the centre of Ellerslie township, you would be forgiven if you didn't notice this hidden gem at first.The stressed outer paint work may look out of context, but once you enter the cosy interior and warm welcome from our friendly staff shine through."

Super lovely bar! There’s space out back to sit outside during the summer months. The staff are super friendly, I got to taste the cider before I got a pint and they even custom made me a poutine! Would definitely come back.
Excellent place to hang out. Tbh I didn't even know about this place until my manager arranged one of my colleagues' farewell party. This place has a vibe that is not easily put into words but you must visit once to feel it.

Great little bar like a tardis so much more than the small front on main Highway Ellerslie. Ales are varied and food is original and tasty. Really deserves a visit.
