Story

Charcoal Lane is also a proud social enterprise program of Mission Australia.The name ‘Charcoal Lane’, documented in an Archie Roach song, (a prominent Aboriginal performer), has significant meaning as a local meeting place in Victorian Aboriginal history.

Originally, Charcoal Lane was the location of a briquette factory in the Fitzroy-Collingwood area where many Aboriginal people, often after work, came together to share knowledge and socialise.

Amazing $20 lunch deal. Go Tues-Fri 12-3pm for a fine-dining meal at cafe (or less) prices. Inventive flavours utilizing native foraged Australian bush finds. Tasty vegetarian options. Ideal place to bring an overseas visitor.

Absolutely fabulous meal- Lamb that melted in your mouth. The meal started off with an intriguing, Shared Tasting Platter. Lovely atmosphere with impeccable service. It's now Number 1 on my list.!

Really interesting menu, and pricey as a result, but still within the Melbourne average for such places. Really friendly and helpful staff. Good story behind the place so worth hearing it from someone on arrival. Probably need to book as seems popular. Recommended.

Food was absolutely stunning, service incredible! The friendly staff members gave an upbeat atmosphere to the restaurant. The food was quick, but of supreme quality. The meat, tender; the presentation elegant. Made with all Australian produce. Sublime, would recommend!
