I’m not a huge customer of this mob, but over the last 15 years I have purchased almost all my home landscaping supplies from them.
They aren't a "bargain basement" outfit and provide a good range of quality gear and a have good team of employees. Of course, this is reflected somewhat (but not overly) in their prices.
I can honestly say that I haven't had a bad experience with them. Yes, there may have been a miscommunication or misunderstanding or two over that that time but in EVERY case, they have done their best to resolve it to my satisfaction. This is why I continue to support their business.
This review was prompted by my most recent experience. I've just had a load of sleepers delivered, my second load this week. In both cases the counter staff and drivers went out of their way to be helpful. The counter staff were understanding when the order needed changing and structured the changes to minimise extra cost to me. The drivers made their best efforts to navigate a difficult and hilly driveway, so I wouldn't have to carry the sleepers as far.
As the truck left I felt I had to at least show my appreciation by letting others know happy I am with their service. Highly recommended!

In response to the remedy offered by James at Centenary Landscape
Congratulations, James, that is one of the best recoveries from a customer complaint I have seen. You have won me over with your positive response, the offer to make good and the commitment to solve the cause of the problem. A reasonable person could not ask for more.
Original Review
My experience today with Centenary Landscape has not been good. I called this morning to check on the availability of Sir Walter Turf. Simon, after putting me on hold to find out, told me that their delivery had not yet arrived and that they had 30 pieces unsold from that order. With that knowledge, I went off to measure up my job so I could call back and order what I needed. About half an hour later I called back to order 20 pieces only to be told by Sally that they only had six pieces left.
After querying when the truck had arrived, I was told it was in over an hour earlier. I then pressed the matter and asked why I had been given incorrect information when I called the first time. To her credit, Sally was apologetic, but that does little for me.
If you are not going to give accurate information when customers call, why bother taking the call. Customer service is hard to get right and all too easy to get wrong, which is what has happened here. I will be reluctant to spend money at Centenary in the future as a result of this carelessness in dealing with my call. Now that I have to wait until tomorrow, I will get it from Bunnings and pay $10 less for the 20 pieces.
If I were the owner of this business, I would not be impressed with this outcome.

Seriously over charge. If you take time out to do the maths on what it costs for the concrete blended gravel you'll find once you have included the cement that their prices are about the same for the same quantity of premixed concrete delivered to your door. It is difficult to make comparisons when dealing with them as the industry standard is a 'volume' type measurement and most people go there with a volume amount to buy only to be told that they sell their product by weight. In addition, if you happen to purchase any sand type product after it has rained, you’ll be paying for a lot of water because as stated above, these people sell their sands and gravel based on weight. When I complained to the manager about paying for water, he said they always make adjustments for that. Not once in all my years of going there had they ever made an adjustment on the price related to water content in the sand. Also purchased a couple of 20 litre buckets of gravel. They told me that there price was $62 per tonne and when I went to pay they charged me $13.00 for the two buckets. With a bucket weighing just over 30 kg, and note there had been heavy rainfall over night, that equates to $216/ tonne. Furthermore, when buying by the bucket you do everything, shovel the gravel into the bucket, lift and load it yourself and for that you pay three and half times the price.

We have been regular customers of Centenary Landscaping Supplies for the last 20 years or so. On Friday 21 April 2017, we bought 3 bags of lightning bronze 20mm pebbles to top up our garden walkway. The worker at the centre scooped up the pebbles for us and packed them in the 3 bags we were given at the counter. He then loaded up the boot of our SUV for us and bade us well.
Needing a bit more lightning bronze pebbles, we went back on Monday 24 April 2017 around 9:30 a.m. and bought a couple more bags. This time, another worker, a big burly chap, who attended to us said that he would only scoop 4 spadefuls per bag. This only filled a third of each bag and we felt short-changed. I hasten to add that we have bought several bags of the same product many times in the past and never had any hassles before. We mentioned to him that when we made our previous purchases, the bags had been filled at least half way up by the staff. Grudgingly, he filled up a couple of scoops more but said that he would not lift the bags for us on the pretext that he did not want to risk hurting himself. He then abruptly walked away leaving us to tie up the bags ourselves and to load up our car by ourselves. My wife and I happen to be slightly-built retired senior citizens aged around 70 years. Between the two of us we managed to load up our car without too much bother.
Generally, we have found the staff to be helpful and amiable, but we are totally unimpressed and appalled by the discourtesy, negative attitude and indifference shown to us on this occasion.
