Story

Carmichael Ford has been looking after the sale and service of New and Used Fords in Townsville and its surrounds since 1977.

It is proudly part of the second generation Dealer Group owned by Andrew Carmichael. This group incorporates Mercedes-Benz Townsville, Carmichael Ford, Autopro Ayr and Carmichael Ford Ayr.

In total over 220 staff are employed by the group.

Carmichael Ford has been in the family for over 30 years and is the largest Rural Ford dealer group in Australia.

I am so happy with my service at Carmichael Ford. I've never had a problem with service. I bring my Focus in every year and they always look after me with those free loan cars. Thumbs up guys!

This one has got Sales & Service all in one! Where to start? I dropped my car in for a service on the morning of 6/2 and was told that I could pick up the car at 3pm. Knowing that problems can arise I asked what the closing time was and was told 5:15pm. I returned at 4:15pm, an hour and 15 minutes after I was told to pick up the car. Whilst I was at Ford, my phone rang, it was Ford. I advised I was already there and the service rep came out to see me. I was told that my car was un-roadworthy and I would have to leave it at the dealership overnight. I asked what the problem was and was told that the low beam bulb on one of the headlights needed replacing and that the cost would be $11. I asked why this wasn’t done and advised to just replace it so I could go home. I was then told “All the boys have gone home for the day – I only just got this note now or I would have rang you earlier” Then I was told that I needed a fuel filter replaced for $160 – my response “let me take a wild guess and assume this hasn’t been done either?” I was correct. Luckily, the Manager gave authorisation for me to take my car home overnight as long as I brought it back the following day. I advised the service rep that I would be back between 9am and 9:30am the next day. I then received another apology and was told that both these tasks could be completed at the same time and assured me it would be completed within half an hour … you can see where this is going … By the time I got home I had received an email from Carmichael Ford confirming my appointment time of 7:40am the following day??? Day 2 Arrived at the service centre at 9:10am. I was greeted by the same service rep from the day before. Again she apologised. I let her know that I knew it wasn’t her fault and it looked like she had to have this type of conversation all the time. I loved the response; “Yeah, all the time. I’ve been here for 8 years and it’s just part of the job” Well done Carmichael Ford! I was then told that “all of the boys are on smoko from 9:30 to 9:50” and it would get done straight after that – Awesome! Whilst waiting, I thought I would kill some time so I wondered into the sales showroom. Three people (I assume part of the sales team) walked passed me before I was greeted by a fourth, a young lady who asked if she could help. I let her know that I was waiting for my car to be serviced and I thought I’d have a look (I assume this happens semi regularly). I asked what the Mustang convertibles sell for. “I’m not sure, one is fifty something and the other is eighty something” Wow! I thanked her for her time and left. Let me guess, sales are down due to a declining economy on the back of the decrease in mining activity? GMS! Still waiting for my car to be serviced (Day 2) I went next door to Mercedes. Same scenario; I advised the sales guy that my car was in for a service next door at Ford and I was just kicking tyres. I was offered a coffee and water, taken through the showroom and asked on several occasions if I would be interested in a test drive. Throughout the conversation the sales guy got my email address, name and phone number. (Ford didn’t even get a name) I’ve already had a follow up text message and an information pack emailed through to me from the sales team at Mercedes. Can I suggest the following; 1. Basic sales training for your team – how can you close if you don’t ask? 2. Workflow planning training with the service team. The fact you have your entire workforce scheduled for break (your business stops) at the same time indicates you have no interest in anything other than the status quo 3. Change my phone number on your job card (I know you do this) so I do not receive your NPS survey … detractor. I did get offered a $50 discount on my fuel filter - thanks for valuing my time on the SECOND day at that - appreciate it I’m not sure if you will even read this because, hey … it’s been like this for 8 years. I hope Ford understands Carmichael Ford reflects on their brand too.

New to town and first time using Carmichael Ford for a service. I initially enquired about pricing for a service but after they looked at my service log book they advised I wasnt due for a few months. They looked up my car and found possible recall parts needing to be investigated. I booked my car in them, I get provided a modern free courtesy car and when I return they advised they found parts needing replacing and it'll all be under warranty. I went to them trying to book in a service which would have cost money and I leave not paying a cent and having improvements done to my car. The customer service is Excellent in the Service department and will be recommending all my friends and family use Carmichael Ford, even if they don't own a Ford.

Caremichael ford has the performance and distance in service customer vehicle care and top quality cars for many many years now out performing not only holden of Australia but all other cheap inports with expensive after service parts and labour as a very loyal ford owner for many years there is no other but carmichael ford Townsville
