People are quick enough to say when something isn’t good about a place but not quick enough to say when it is good. Shout out to the ladies behind the front desk in the emergency room who both where very polite to me and listened to what I had to say I think one of the girls names was Bec I think she was Scottish and shout out to Jock the Doctor that seen me giving me peace of mind about my injured lower back who was nice and also listened to what I had to say and gave me good advice and put my mind at ease. Thank you for everything you do at the hospital and looking after the people who come in.
The staff in this hospital saved my life after a heart attack. I recovered thank goodness and wanted to thank the nursing staff, the doctors and orderlies.nThese people truly care about patients visiting the hospital and the Emergency Department team is a blessing when people are in pain and uncertain what is happening with their body.nThank you so much to everyone that keeps people in Cairns healthy and provide recovery services when people are unwell.nI really hope the management at this wonderful hospital will pass on my heart felt thanks to the teams on the Cardiology Ward and the Emergyency Department as well as the radiographers and specialist doctors.nThank you one and all.
We hadn't been in Cairns for 24 hours when my husband needed a rather precipitous visit to the ER. Being from the States, we weren't familiar at all with the process in Oz, but we received amazing care and concern from everyone with whom we came into contact. The RN at the front desk who checked my husband in was incredible - taking his medical history, asking lots of pertinent questions, entering his information quickly yet accurately. The finance lady was equally patient and informative as she explained our payment options and responsibilities. I wish I'd noted their names, they were both awesome. I did not meet the doctor who examined my husband, but he was equally enthusiastic about her professionalism and kindness. We were out the door in far less time than we expected, far less time, as a matter of fact, than the average ER visit in the States. Start to finish, I don't think we were there for two hours in total. We left with an extremely favorable impression of the Australian health care system, and are so grateful to the people who took care of my husband's issue.
Excellent surgeons. Very good doctors. But there simply are not enough medical staff. They are run off their feet and simply forget to give medications at times. It's not a good place to recover from surgery - the nurses are so loud, and so many noises from the intercoms.
I’ve just spent two nights in Base Hospital for surgery, and I can’t express enough gratitude to the incredible staff who cared for me. Everyone worked tirelessly and treated me with such kindness—they are truly angels. I’m deeply grateful to all the hardworking hospital staff, including the Emergency Department team, who did their best to find the cause of my suffering.
