The era in which wooden architecture embodied the envy of mankind. Style, purpose, strength and perfect proportion rarely got surpassed from said period. The knock off or imitation ability not yet available helped these frilly artworks remain the domain of the elite and wealthiest owners of real estate

Loved it! A very fascinating history. Very knowledgeable staff. Lovely Devonshire Tea too. Will be even better when the archives are eventually upgraded.

An event center houses in a beautifully presented historical house and gardens. We attended on one of the public open days that occur a few times each year. Thoughtful and informative exhibit in the home, the surrounding area and other iconic houses, and the local history. Really lovely to be able to visit one of NZ's historic properties.
