If I could give this ENT specialist a no star, I would! I consulted another ENT specialist a while ago and found out that I have a significant amount of very dry ear wax in both ears! I was even advised to purchase some ear drops to instil in my ear so that it could assist with the ear suctioning process. I am very upset and angry at Dr Douglas Buchanan for not listening to me when I told him that I could feel some ear wax. He just looked at me and told me that I did not have much to be concerned off. As a piano teacher, I have very sensitive hearing and having just a small amount of ear wax can affect my quality of sleep. He even told me that I have a Eustachian Tube Dysfunction instead of helping me with my wax. I am now hoping that there would be a malpractice case for misdiagnosing my symptoms and also because he suggested that I should have the grommet inserted into my left ear which has now left a hole in my ear!

I saw Dr Buchanan on 1st September for pain in my left ear with dumbness on the left side of my face and hearing loss. After him sticking a large metal object into my ear (enabling my hearing again) he gave me a script for ear drops and said I wouldn't need to see him again. 3 days after ear drops finished and in a mad panic (symptoms still the same) I demanded a 2nd referral. On my 2nd rederral (who was also half the price in a private hospital and I have no cover) I was told my left ear drum was raptured and I need surgery. OMG talk about feeling shocked. I guess what I feel I need to say is $295 later and then another $145 for 2nd specialist I feel I need to share my story with others. I feel really disappointed.

I've had my nose cauterized and a tonsillectomy performed by Dr Buchanan, he is a wonderful doctor who informed me of all possible side effects of both operations . Tonsillectomy worked wonders and he made sure that everything worked out correctly and that I was recovering well in hospital and on my return checkup visit. Definitely recommend for anyone seeking a good ear nose and throat specialist.

Saw Dr Buchanan many years ago for my recurrent tonsil infection, I asked if I could get a tonsillectomy done. Dr Buchanan advised that at my page (28), there is a 30% chance that I would die from the operation, I asked him "30% ?!?! how come it's that high" and he responded "you can die from anything these days". It's been about 5 years since then and I'm sick and tired of my tonsil problems, I saw another ENT who said 30% chance of death is ludicrous and likely Dr Buchanan was just having a laugh at my expense. After 5 years of suffering, I cannot recommend Dr Buchanan to anyone.
