Story

In an old Fremantle warehouse space, stripped back to its original brick, sits our Kitchen & Bakery. Bread in Common is a restaurant about communal dining, communal tables, sharing food, drinks, wine… with a focus down on the table.

Our kitchen food philosophy is about locally sourced, seasonal produce and house made. Constructed to be about sharing, enjoying time in common.

Our bar and wine wall is about the small, rare and unusual as much as the loved and simple.

The bakery bakes our traditional rustic breads, featured in our menus,
and available to take-home, and also offers take-out sandwiches and coffee by Mano a Mano

We are a casual entry venue, we do not take bookings.

Well designed building with plenty of cool vibes going on. The open kitchen is great and the woodfired ovens out the back are just brilliant. Even the toilets have some.interesting lighting and thoughtful design. We enjoyed our service and the meals were flavour full and of a good size. Will definitely be back.

Relaxed atmosphere and service was timely - not super friendly but acceptable. Nice open space feeling but the tables are a little close to each other. Went for lunch on a weekday and the food was served quickly. Had the lamb ribs and sweet potatoes and both were tasty, although the lamb was on the fatty side. Interesting that there were 3 items on each plate, which made it a bit awkward to share for a table of 2. Two share plates, bread for two and a bit of garlic butter, and two waters were $50, so on the pricey side. Would go back to try other dishes but wouldn't rush back. Finally went back to try their breakfast and while the service was good, the food could have been better. Their washrooms could also be better lighted.

Great wine good food. A suggestion to order 1 starch 1 vegetable and 1 meat dish for 2 people to share and some bread to start. It was a prefect evening. We had an Italian wine from Sicily and it was so so good. Well worth the visit. Keep in mind that it's not the cheapest resturant however we'll worth the experience.

Definitely worth a visit. Welcoming and warm layout, despite the massive size of the place! As for the food, expect quality rather than quantity - exceptional quality however. Never had a bad meal/experience here. Consistently delicious and fresh dishes made by people who clearly have a passion for sharing amazing food. About $20-30 for brekky and a coffee per person. Not too bad considering the time and effort that goes into the meal (it’s not just your standard bacon and eggs - check out their menu).

Chose this place for breakfast because of all the great reviews. Came up short on meeting my expectations which could have been inflated. $23 for two small pieces of salmon (size about twice the size of my thumb)... not cheap. Apart from the size of servings, Bread was great albeit too hard for my 9-year old son. Coffee was ok. Nice atmosphere and intriguing decor.
