It's nice having a large forested area near the city with numerous multi use trails running through it. However the forest is an actively used and harvested meaning it has some areas that you walk through which only has saplings or small trees which aren't nice at all. The developed wooded areas are nice. Also there are heaps of trails running through the forest which are not marked making it a bit confusing

Great spot for mountain bikers through the forest trails. Large area. I like that it's near the dunes and quiet beaches of North New Brighton and the exclusive Waimari.

The bike trails are awesome, very well set out over a massive area. Have ridden all trails and are easily ridden by all age groups. This makes it a great place to bring the whole family. If trail riding is not your thing, there is a BMW track at the car park from the Burwood end. Also walking tracks everywhere and horse riding trails. The park can be entered from Burwood or from the Spencer Park end of the Forest. Trail maps can be obtained at the Spencer Park Camp ground shop which are worth getting if your a first timer as it can be a little disorientating when you get into the forest tracks!
