Absolutely amazing gardens, take a shady stroll though mature exotic botanical gardens and absorb the beauty of nature. Get the feeling of insignificance while standing under an enormous canopy cast from a giant tree. Discover the beauty and serenity of the tropical house and smell the heady fragrance of the rose garden. If you have time enjoy a tasty lunch in one of the eateries on site. Parking can be tricky at peak times but you will enjoy you time here nether the less.

An amazing place to visit. My favourite times are in summer and in autumn. Visit the visitor's centre to get the seasonal guide as it provides some additional info. During summer, pack a picnic and relax on the archery lawn. Also, keep a lookout for concerts and events that may be happening. There's a guided tour which is informative and well-priced.

Fantastic place. Lots of places to sit and enjoy the sights. The peacock fountain is great to just sit and watch. The Avon river flows along the gardens with punts, canoes and rafts going along it, also the hundreds of ducks are good to see. There is a kids play park and a visitors center. There are occasional free concerts and events on in the gardens.

I'm so glad I didn't skip this! It was so beautiful. It was on our list but not high since we didn't have much time in Christchurch. We spent more time than we were expecting, walking along the different areas, playing with the camera for fun flower pictures. It wasn't busy and it mostly felt like we had the place to ourselves.

Love, love, love. With limited time to get to the city we decided to take the short walk from where we stayed at double tree Sheraton, across the park. We loved this place so much, we ended up spending most of our day walking through it and checking out the indoor plant displays etc. We cancelled our city plans. Would highly recommend for those even if you're not in the direct area. I'll be back when next in NZ. It's absolutely lovely, the trees are lovely and the grounds...including huge garden ornaments were stunning!
