Had lunch at the Bistro Nguyen's today. In short a great experience. Spent $20 and got a massive bowel of fried rice with seafood chunks, delicious. The food was prompt, cooked well, and served on designer dishes. I would go any day, value for money, overall pleasent atmosphere. If you like vietnamese food including noodles, soups and more you have to go. Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair accessable.
4.5/5 A hidden gem in the Melbourne building well hidden in plain sight. Pros: * Extensive menu * Generous serves * Good value for money Cons: * Bit noisy. * Service 3/5. Recommend: DIY rice paper rolls. The fresh herbs are so nice! The beef mince has a good flavour. Watch out for: Fish cakes texture. These are the same consistency as fish balls you find in pho or frozen surimi fish balls. It's fish paste + binder, so has a slightly gelatinous or bouncy texture. Like fish sausage.
We had pho, lemongrass chicken and spring roll vermicelli and some entrees. Main dishes were nice but not the entrees sweet potato and fish cake fish cake didn’t really taste like fish cake.
Fast service with good portions. Quality / price was great too. Beware of the red chilli, it’s really spicy!
I found this place almost by chance, I’ve been to Canberra a few times but never spotted it previously. The restaurant is nicely designed and had a good atmosphere even at 6pm mid week. The menu is extensive and the food was served quickly and was very good. The service was excellent, overall a great experience, I will definitely be back on my next visit to Canberra.
Busy authentic Vietnamese in the heart of Canberra. Decor is amazing despite the small space. Food was relatively tasty however the hotpot was lacking flavour. Great selection of drinks to wash down some of the food though . As usual, Canberra prices are relatively high compared to other major cities, so budget for 40$ pp for a light lunch.
Great Vietnamese restaurant in the city centre. Nice range of dishes at a reasonable price. Service was friendly and prompt and all the food was delicious.
The soup base of the pho was on the lighter side as I prefer a heavy taste very busy so a short wait for the food to be served.
A rather fresh Spring day in Canberra City bought on an urge for something spicy, something to warm the body, and something to soothe my appetite. I was pleasantly surprised by choosing Bistro Nguyen’s. Tucked into the nondescript corner of the Melbourne building the restaurant is quite artfully appealing once seated inside. The service was favourably fast and friendly. The menu was extensive with plenty of dishes on the menu for even the most discerning soul to choose from. I had the slow cooked stewed beef which was absolutely delicious with just the right amount of spice to make the taste buds dance! Also tried the prawn and crab spring rolls which were delicious after having been fried to a crispy Golden flake on the outside. Flushed it down with an authentic Vietnamese iced coffee which did not disappoint. I would return next time in Canberra in a heartbeat to try other dishes and next time save room for desert. Highly recommend!!!
Walked in a little late. But ordered the chicken pho. Chicken was little dry and hard. But soup and noodles were nice. Probably end of the night Overall good
