One word...disappointing. I used to visit this spot years ago and it appears to have new owners. This was my favourite spot on a Sunday afternoon for a spot of lunch. It always used to bustling with folk. Not any more. Unfortunately the current cafe is somewhat lacking. Firstly on a 33oC day you would expect some cooling... apart from a singular old AC fan which didn't seem to work, it's just fans. Secondly having arrived at 12.15pm and hoping for some eggs Benedict, was told sorry the breakfast menu stops at 12pm...these days every cafe I go to doesn't have such restrictions. Instead I decided to have the Caesar salad with salmon and a berry smoothie. Well the smoothie was bland. And as the photos can attest to, the Caesar salad was very poor... minuscule bits of bacon, a few croutons, one slice of rolled up salmon and a pile of lettuce with a bad dressing. No egg art of a Caesar salad btw. No choice of anchovies. The ingredients would have cost $1.50 if I had made myself...instead I was charged $23. So pretty much I will no longer go to this cafe until hopefully it changes hands and quality improves. I would have given 2 star due to the location and the nice front staff., However it really does not deserve it. Regarding the Owners comments to other reviews...you really are a rude individual in your responses, who clearly does not take on critical reviews in order to improve. So this is for the other potential patrons and not for the Owner. Avoid folks.
Stopped into bistro 21 for lunch, nice spot on the beach. Had the special of the day. It was cooked to perfection, lovely light meal on a sunny day. Had ample indoor seating, had to swoop in to get an outdoor table as they were in high demand.
We had breakfast here this morning. Very ordinary fare I’d say. The poached eggs looked like The Perishers eyes in the sky.. Toast was cold and hard.. cracked in half when I’d tried to butter it.. ordinary presentation, neither meals looked inviting…
On a weekday afternoon, I came here for a lovely and chill hangout. The staff were friendly, and I loved the vibe of this place. The food was fantastic and generous portion too, I was absolutely amazed by the taste of Vietnamese beef noodles soup, very authentic and full of flavor. Can't wait to come back again for trying other dishes!
Shared a meal with friends recently. Did not finish my squid. A little too heavily crumbed. Would fabulous to offer grilled. Not too many vegetarian options. Waited a long time for 1 cocktail. Need to dim lighting a little to add atmosphere. Friendly staff.Food: 3/5
Unfortunately I have been to this cafe more than once and everytime it's the same...miserable staff, average food and coffee, and the place completely lacks soul. Such a shame given the location as it has so much potential to be a great place for the community to gather. Instead, the locals would rather head to Third Wheel which is further from the beach I strongly recommend you go there instead - you'll find happy people, great conversation, amazing coffee and yummy breakfast treats.
Lovely spot with a great menu selection. Not too pricey & friendly service. Coffee & food was great even if, in my case, the order was slightly wrong. But I didn't care. I will go again.
Very scenic location. Good for morning n evening walks
Very nice food and staff. Coffee was good too
Great food but the service leaves a lot to be desired. We stood by the entrance waiting for attention a table and the girls were too busy talking and snacking to help us. We ended up just sitting down. All four of us kept looking to the girls behind the counter for some attention but they were too busy chatting. We ended up getting our own menu’s and water from a water tap at the back. We worked out ourselves that you need to go to the counter to order which we did. They were sweet but obviously under trained. The salmon salad and fried rice were exceptional but at table service prices.
