Had an extremely rude experience with the staff at the balloons section @ 11am Monday 21st October today.nnI went in to order balloons to pick up the day before my daughter’s 3rd birthday 15 days from today.nnIt was an effort for this staff member to even serve me really.nnThe only weights they had were blue, she said that was my only option. I replied with “Will any more be coming in between now and the 5th of November? And if so could you put a pink one aside for me?”nnShe firmly replied along the lines of “no I can’t, and we have that many orders come through. You have to have what is available now which is blue, it will look fine with pink.”nnSo I changed the colour of the number balloon to go with the blue base, as it’s a girls birthday and I wanted pink.. I want it to look girly.nnI then asked for other items to be put through on the same transaction to save me going to the front counter I had 2 little ones with me. She signed and said “I don’t have any bags here..” with such a rude tone, and I said “that’s fine I will carry it!”nnIf felt like such an effort for this staff member merchant ID 611000604000267 to serve me let alone try and make my experience great.nnIf it was such a bloody hassle I wouldn’t have popped in.. I usually come here for all my birthday balloons and usually the staff there are AMAZING and cater to my needs or suggest alternatives etc. like “how about when call you when the pink weight comes in” or “I’ll put one aside when they come in” she was just straight rude and didn’t give an f about actually helping and didn’t want to be there..nnHopefully your team can see this and speak to your older staff member, about her attitude at work towards paying customers!nnUnfortunate.
Nice open Big W. The store is well lit and nicely laid out. There is plenty of room between the aisles and not a lot of clutter from the specials displays. Staff are generally friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Bonus is that they have both manned checkouts and self-service checkouts. Only downside is no disabled or larger space self-service checkouts for people who are in wheelchairs or have prams, etc.
I visited yesterday with my wife and children. Bought one item and tried to do self billing. System was not accepting payment and we left self billing counter and moved to staff billing counter. Then suddenly from somewhere one female staff came and started yelling at us about leaving counter without letting her know.My wife told her that you were not here for assistance. Still she continued talking rudely with high tone. I was just numbed and thought might be that's her way of talking but later I noticed she was talking nicely with all other customers. Then I realised that her behaviour was racist. I reported this incident to the staff assisting at counter as well. Incident happened between 1:30 pm to 1:45 pm on 30th December '24.nnIf someone is racist then they should stay at home not in public. That's the responsibility of management to do mystery check regarding behaviour of their staff members Because customers give you business.
Staffs are horrible.nnWe bought a Russell Hobbs kettle 2 weeks before, and it was not steady. After 2 or 3 days we we went to the store to return it and told the staff the item was faulty as it was not steady. The staff name was KYLIE and she asked what you meant by it not steady, and started shaking her head and showing an angry face to us. Then she opened the box and checked the kettle and realised that it was faulty. We asked her instead for a refund can we could replace it with a new one, and we asked her to check if there were any available in the store as we already checked and couldn't find anything there. All of a sudden she said I can't check if you want to buy another one you go and check. I was shocked by that response. Because I knownthat she can check that on the computer.
Really sad shopping experience my brother and I experienced, my brother was wrongly accused of stealing. My brother and I went into big W around 6:45pm looking for sinkers in the fishing section. We went to the checkout and as my brother scanned the item and getting ready to pay for it a worker had said to my brother “are you sure that’s the only thing your paying for” my brother was very confused so was I and replied “yes” she then proceeded to ask for him to take his beanie off and empty his pockets. She had then replied “there was a complaint, and security footage of him stealing” which was wrong so I had told the female worker that she is wrong and my brother would never steal and asked for proof of the security footage. After I asked for the footage she smirked at us until we left the store and let us go. After proving and showing her that he didn’t steal and her lying about having security footage we never got a apology!!! She wrongly accused my brother and made a scene causing him to feel humiliated. I’m very ashamed and angry that there’s people in the world that find joy in making accusations and ruining someone’s day. I’m not sure who the lady was or what was her name but I hope she feels remorse for creating a fake scenario that never happened. I don’t think I’ll step foot in Browns-plains Big W ever again.
