Leaders of Australian hairdressing for over 35 years, the BIBA Institution has set the benchmark of excellence in hair design and education. Boasting an impressive eleven salons and two highly acclaimed hairdressing academies across Melbourne, BIBA is home to a rich list of industry awards thanks to the elite expertise and business know-how of its educators.

Returning to Melbourne after living and working in London as a trainer for highly acclaimed salons; Vidal Sassoon and Alan International in the 60s and early 70s, owner and founder Paul Divitaris saw an opportunity to develop a progressive and fashion forward brand.

In 1975, the birth of BIBA introduced Australian hairdressing to new levels of precision and power – assets built on a unique culture where lifestyle, personality and face-shape dictate design.

Today, Paul and his team of Creative Directors travel at least once a year – indulging in emerging trends and gathering inspiration to bring home, inject with culture and place in the hands of BIBA staff to leverage success in the salon, competition arena and session styling stage. “Every time my team and I travel overseas we go with an open mind – always returning with innovative ideas ready for salon implementation,” Paul says. “The day I stop learning will be the day I stop working.”

For just a tad over 30years, I’ve been a loyal client and you may say ‘part of the furniture’ to Joe’s team. The journey has broaden my experience by having different hair cuts/styles and colours all through the years, under the care of different team members.  Each member is unique which continues to make the experience exciting and rewarding. Joe has a good team, hence I kept coming back! I commend my hair stylist Cory and colourist Angie for a fabulous result every time. My experience with the team collaboration is splendid! My experience with the products used by Biba South Yarra is top of the range. The advise of what to use, when and how, contributes to the health of my hair. No fail, I walk out and I get compliments from start to finish! Today, I had my hair coloured by Angie, and once again…. I feel fabulous! Thanks team and see you again next month!

"This was best haircut of my life and entire existence."  Where to begin, the premium hair styling experience that is Biba is worth every dollar you invest in the service. From the very first greeting by the alluring receptionist Anastasia, I knew there was something special going on. And there was a cute hairdresser next to her that I hope would be taking care of my hair. I got my way.  As I was escorted to get my hair washed, Tatum the experienced hair assistant worked magic with her fingers and eased my day's stress with her genuine customer rapport, chatter and massage skills. She is beautifully presented and I feel is an amazing person in and out. As I was led back to my chair I was so excited to see what was coming next.  Corey confidently and skilfully gave me the haircut of a lifetime. From his very respectful and kind consult, to the really engaging chatter during his skillful cut of my difficult to manage wavy hair. He without hesitation and trouble managed to make my hair look amazing within minutes and the final cuts just made me emotional. I felt like a really good friend of mine cut my hair and we hit it off within minutes, with his subtle humour and gentle laugh. He is an asset to your business and will put Biba on the map for people like me who don't always know about the premium salon experiences.  I am actually excited to return in 6 weeks. Not because of my hair getting long but to catch up with the excellent team that operated like machine clockwork to provide THE most memorable haircut of my life. They are my people of hair and I cannot wait to touch base with them again from the bottom of my heart. Thank you Biba for this life changing experience.

!GOLD STAR CUSTOMER SERVICE! IMPECCABLE! I visited this salon on a Saturday afternoon…peak…after having the most unfortunate experience at a neighbouring salon… Despite having no booking on a Saturday!!, staff were full of empathy, went above and beyond, magically fitting me in for a blow wave. BIBA South Yarra was packed full of smiling customers who looked as though they were loyal regulars. Multiple members of staff greeted me whilst Shanae styled my hair to perfection. It is clear that this hairdressing team is not only talented in their own right but wow…. the positive work culture is palpable and a pleasure to be around! They all support and nurture one another to produce the best results for clients and speak very highly of their workplace. Love! Went for a consultation a week prior to my appointment and was immediately greeted by all the lovely staff. Made an appointment to dye my hair a week later and the whole process was amazing! I was thrilled with my experience at Biba this week. After a disastrous cut at another salon, Joe happily listened to my concerns and then restyled my hair. I had my first colour and cut at Biba and couldn't recommend them more! My consult made me feel really confident that the ladies knew what I was after. My $520 colour washed out on its first shampoo. Avoid. If you attend this Salon, I also suggest paying before service. I was told one price only to have it doubled at checkout on services I didn’t have.
