A coffee bar with a few coffee tables near the entrance and a standup table top along one side of the wall, perfect for a quick coffee. Flat white was quite good, but the main reason for the visit was for the dacquoise. Rarely see any place here that makes dacquoise, let alone five different flavours. The meringue sandwich was soft and airy, not chewy; and it crumbles nicely without making a mess when you bite into it. The buttercream was rich but didn't felt heavy; very tasty. Favourites was the Uji matcha with a strong matcha flavour and the Belgian chocolate which tasted of a high quality dark chocolate. Dacquoise was not cheap but worth getting.
I recently had the pleasure of visiting Bench, a cafe located in the heart of Melbourne. From the moment I stepped inside, I was struck by the unique design of the space, which perfectly captures the laid-back, creative vibe of the city. The coffee at Bench was excellent, with a rich, full flavor that kept me coming back for more. I also couldn't resist trying some of the amazing sweets on offer here. I'm not sure what they're called, but they reminded me of macaroons and were absolutely divine. But it wasn't just the food and drink that made my visit to Bench so enjoyable. The staff were all incredibly friendly and welcoming, making me feel right at home from the moment I stepped through the door. In conclusion, Bench is a great cafe to check out while in Melbourne. The design is funky and the coffee and sweets are top-notch, but it's the friendly staff that really sets this place apart. Don't miss out on this hidden gem!
It only does a few things, but it does them right. Coffee, tea and some pastries, that's all. The cafe is relatively small, but it's bustling, and the staff members are friendly and helpful. They will even tell you about their personal favourite flavours if you asked them about it, and what sells the most. The coffee is decent, and iced coffee comes in a nice boba-esque cup. Probably not great for the environment, but sure is nice on the eyes. The dacquoise is definitely a must get. It's buttercream in between 2 pieces of almond & hazelnut meringues. Need I say more? Nay. TL;DR get coffee & dacquoise
Beautiful place, beautiful all black Spirit and Japanese wooden filter holders for pour over. Nice service, good coffee and a variety of dacquoises with flavors ranging from vanilla and salted caramel to black sesame, through chocolate and matcha. They sell their beans too. Two filter roasts, a house blend for milk, and a single origin for espresso. Bags do not have a roast date. They roast every Wednesday so should have new beans by Thursday and look like they only keep the latest roast on the shelves.
Actually I went there for their dacquoise for it’s hard to find in Melbourne. However, the batch brew and the environment are very impressive. Good to enjoy a short coffee break.
Let me start with the vibe of the place it was amazing very minimal and aesthetic And the coffee felt so fresh and I went 10 mins before they Closed they had healthy sugar and too if you need it Definitely gonna go there more often
Nice ambiance. Not much seats available, but we were lucky that the store was not busy and we were able to sit on the bench hence it’s name I guess . They brought out sparkling water for us when they saw us sitting down. That’s is just so sweet of them! Friend brought me to try their coffee, and for a first-time coffee drinker, it’s tasted quite good. They also sell this macarons lookalike desserts, called Dacquoise. Different flavours to choose from and I got the black sesame. It’s ok, not too sweet, but I guess I don’t quite get the texture of the dessert.
Coffee was amazing and was so impressed with the dacquoise - the texture was so beautifully smooth and the flavour was so perfect with the green tea - haven’t really tasted anything like it before.
Very nice coffee and a tad expensive desserts. In my opinion this coffee is nicer than Brother Baba Budan and similar to the Industry Beans across the road. Will be coming back to try the coffee again. $26 for two coffees and two macaroons type of macaroons?.
New Uber cool / sleek minimalist cafe with excellent coffee. Super friendly & efficient service. Coffee was really excellent, but our only issue was that it was slightly cold not usual temp. They very kindly made me a fresh flat white. Limited seating inside only - bench along the side with small 3 tables. Great addition to the cbd coffee scene.
