Though it comes with a lot of hype and a line that snakes out the door about 20 metres, the pies and pasties are definitely good, but not mind blowing. Their toasties made on their own sour dough bread though are amazing. Plenty of seating upstairs if you can't find a table downstairs.
First day in Beechworth & first stop for lunch on a Sunday. Was not extremely busy. Easily found a seat outside. They cater to all your basic/classic tastes. We had a ham salad roll & schnitzel wrap. I was looking to take a number when I entered, as it was busier inside and it did not seem to have any line order. We just approached the front & blended in & made our way to the counter. Returned another day & got a salad sandwich. Sandwiches are small. Not much to them taste wise. It felt very cold too. Not sure if they get frozen or just kept in a very cold fridge. Restrooms available upstairs. There’s also more seating upstairs.
Finally ticked off a bucket list item. It lives up to expectations! The sound of the buzzers can take away from the atmosphere a little, but it means that you are served quickly and efficiently in this high traffic bakery. Fantastic food and coffee in a beautiful old building.
Great service! Great food! Great variety! Great prices! Some could argue it was too expensive but most items were fairly priced. Staff were nice and place was clean. Very busy downstairs on a Tuesday at 12, I suggest sitting upstairs, it was way more calm. We bought the Apple turnover and some pies, they were great! —Slightly longer wait on the spinach and feta roll than what we were told it would be, but the taste compensates for the wait — Great Bakery, coming back to try your FAMOUS BEESTING !!!
Coffee is very nice, everyone likes Ned Kelly pie, A must try one. Vanilla slice is so yummy, I like the custard, so moisture and creamy. Apple turnover is nice too, creamy donuts got too much cream in it. After having vanilla slice and apple turnover, feel too much for creamy donuts. Should order sth less cream.
I love a country bakery and the Beechworth Bakery is the gold standard. It’s reputation preceded it and it did not disappoint. Spoilt for choice, I stayed in my lane and went for a classic sausage roll with tomato sauce. Happiness. Can recommend.
This place is simply dangerous for your waist line, approach with caution and show self control and it’ll be the best bakery you’ve ever been to! And only order yourself ONE bee sting!
Nice food and friendly staff, but the place has such a huge volume of people coming in the order that it makes it hard to hang around. It was hard to know where the lien was for the counter as people were just scattered everywhere. A clearer path to being served would of been great. Really enjoyed their bee sting.
A must stop if you are ever down this way. Such a pretty store with dine in or takeaway with inside and outside tables. The range of gorgeous pastries, cakes and sandwiches is huge and they all looked delicious. We grabbed some takeaway gourmet pies for dinner this evening. Butter chicken and Pork bourbon and their famous vanilla slices for dessert. … if they last that long. The staff are friendly and helpful a great lunch spot.
Awsome bakery that has all you need and great pies. You may dine in or take away. The staff are friendly and polite.
