What a hidden wee gem this place is! Don't be fooled by the nondescript exterior. Within lies a cornucopia of great pies, cakes, bread and biscuits and not forgetting the delish sandwiches and good strong coffee. The Steak and Pea pie needs tasting, so good, lovely pastry and juicy steak peas and gravy. Put this one on your list of good eats, something for everyone here

The coffee was outstanding, but the texture of the cinnamon scroll didn't match our expectations. Still, it's a great spot for a coffee break.

We made a family trip down to Dunedin and we all were looking forward to the Beano morning tea stop. However, we were served by a grumpy, abrasive older woman which totally killed our 'looking forward to Beano's' vibe. There was no-one else in the shop and there was a lot of impatient huffing and getting snapped at 'wait a minute' which made us feel uneasy. Getting out to the car to feed our kids, realised the pies were average at best and the Jaffa slice one of the worst we've had: texture was almost undercooked and almost no flavour. Would not recommend on this experience. Beano's please encourage your staff to be polite and a good attitude.

A Hidden Gem.  We've driven past this a thousand times.  Stopped today and we were so happy to do so.  A huge range of high quality pies, and baking of all kinds.  The 'icing on the cake' was a lovely outdoor seating area where you can consume your culinary treasures - with a lovely view, and friendly sparrows to mop up any mess.  This will be a routine stop in the future, not least because the staff are so wonderfully friendly.

Best warm dates scone with butter in my entire life!! You have to stop here if u like date scones.
