Right in the heart of Brunswick St, Bar Open has hosted roots, rock n roll and general brouhaha since 1998. Bar Open is notorious for its honest atmosphere and has a reputation for supporting experimental, live and local music. The band room is pumping 6 nights a week and drinks are served until late every night. Bar Open is a bastion of the old Fitzroy.

Love visiting here, atmosphere always real casual, outdoor area, upstairs band area like a grungy mates house with old couches everywhere comfy. Good variety of music....sat or Sun Arvo if lucky u may catch cool jazz or similar at front Bar......

Great place to have a drink and enjoy a live band!
Went for the band which was good and no cover. Drinks are fine. Staff friendly. Not bad.
A great small wine bar. The staff were very helpful. They ask you what kind of wine you like then choose one from the menu for you. We had a great cheese platter. The place is air conditioned and is a little gem amongst a residential street. The home made bread was delicious.
Cozy space. Upstairs host live music most nights. Usually smaller local bands which is always a mix but who knows you might luck out and find something really good. Other than that, bar selection pretty standard but well done. 4 stars
Bar Open is a ok venue. Seems that who runs the place don't care much about the potential that could have. Bands room sounds nice but the design and development seems really left since the early days.
Sweet bar with open fire and live music. Real low key kinda vibe but always humming.
