First time at Banjos on our first day in Tassie. Glad we dropped by and stocked up. We first checked out the St Helens bakery, Pie Face and then came back to Banjos as their food looked the most appetising. Delicious pies with decent chunks of beef. We bought a beef, egg & bacon pie and a beef & mushroom pie. Both excellent and really delicious! Pastry was crispy, well cooked and just the right thickness. Enjoyed the pies tremendously with our lunch of oysters from Lease 65 and freshly made salad from the local IGA.nnAlso bought some date scones, blueberry and raspberry tarts and vanilla slice. We'll be keeping some for our trek at Cradle Mountain tomorrow. Perfect for our holiday in Tassie. Thank you again to the gentleman who served us, and thank you for the yummy food!
It was amazing to try the vegetable roll, it was so fresh. Don't worry about other peoples ratings. Try it by yourself. You would love it.
Great coffee and selection of pies. Tried the scallop pie and it was divine. I had a cold steak & mushroom pie later in the day and the pastry did not go all soggy.
Although staff were very lovely, they said there were no vegan options. Later we checked the website & found a number of items were indeed vegan. So I’d recommend Banjo’s to train their staff in this aspect & recommend vegans to check the website & not rely on staff to know. Otherwise nice coffee & apple scroll at reasonable prices - thank you!
Never saw such as I saw here. At 7:45 AM, no customers inside. One employee had pushed a display counter back so it could be cleaned underneath. Filthy and should be cleaned, but when open in the morning? The barista said nothing when we came to the coffee machine to order. She just moved over to the payment position and waited for us to come over. I had to ask if they were even open! The bread slicing machine was in full view and was filthy at least 20 CM from the floor level up, literally black dirt on the white paint. Next to that were so many crumbs an seeds you could feed a flock of birds. Clearly, they do not maintain and so I am done with Banjos overall since they do not care for doing the basics. No wonder we were the only patrons there!
