Banjara Medical Centre has saved my life countless times and I wouldn't be the person I am today without them. EVERY staff member with Banjara Medical has been amazing to myself, my family and my partner. I never once have had a bad experience here. I have known some of the current staff there for over 7 years when the location was known as Mirikai/Gold Coast Drug Council. I must mention I haven't spent 7 years there, sometimes we lose our way and need to come back for maintenance and reminders of the tools we need. I've only been back for a 2 weeks after over a year away from the place. Firstly I will say I have had the longest history with Matthew McGregor. My relationship with my partner was in ruins and we both had planned to breakup but my current Psychologist Rachel Hinton suggest we try couples counselling together. This was about two years ago. Matthew helped teach us some skills to communicate with each other and express our needs the correct way. He really did give us all the right tools to have a healthy and happy relationship. My partner also learnt from him some skills how to respond not react to someone (myself) with serious mental health issues. I am still with my partner and we have never been better and so in love. Secondly, I am going to struggle to come up with the right words to explain how amazing the Psychologist Rachel Hinton has been for me. I've plenty of other counselors when I've lived in other areas that have been useless to me and I've never been able to connect with most of them. I've found Rachel to be so good and qualified at her job. Without going into too much detail, she has all the right skills that has helped me evolve into living a life of quality and helped me find the desire to live again. She see's through my B.S. and calls me out on it when the time is right. I can tell it won't be much longer until I don't need her help as she has given me all the right tools to manage life on my own. She respects my beliefs and lifestyle even if they aren't her own. She remembers so much from our previous sessions, even the names of the people I discuss in my sessions. This is something I've never had with other counselors at other businesses, I've had to repeat myself so many times which made me feel like we weren't get anywhere. I make progress in every session with Rachel and our sessions are completely tailored to my needs. It has never felt like she's just reading out of text book and notes. Every word that she has spoken to me has felt so genuine and come from the heart. When I haven't agreed with something she has suggested and stated I don't think that will work for me, she instantly comes up with other techniques until we find one that is going to work for me. She has me so comfortable that I'm not even the slightest bit concerned saying these things to her. I believe she does everything she possibly can to help me and she does. If your not getting anything from her service I would be led to believe this person isn't doing the work she recommends or isn't trying. She can't fix people, she can only give you the tools for you to do the work. I have such a rapport with her and I hope in the future if I ever need her services again that I will be able to find her or that she is still there. I've made so much progress with her that I see myself hopefully never needing counselling again in the near future. But who knows where I'll be in a few years. The only reason I felt the need to write this review is because of the previous review I read while looking up their number again today when I couldn't find where I left it. While everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I respect that they're entitled to it. But I find their review absolute rubbish. I hope that their opinion doesn't deter anyone from her services. In regards to the cost, her services are worth it. I have had at least 7 counselors in the past 15 years and all of them rubbish except Rachel and Tracey who I used to see when I was 15 years old. I will recommend this business to anyone in need.
