Story

The Bald Rock hotel is the oldest continually licensed venue in the rozelle & balmain area.

If these original sandstone walls could talk, they would tell you of a colourful history filled with stories of smuggling, underhand business and even horses drinking beer!

These days, the Bald Rock enjoys a reputation for being a family pub with excellent food, live music and friendly bar staff - perfect for catching up with friends and family.

Nice and charming English style pub with courtyard.nWe got there for a Sunday roast but it was a bit of let down the food was tasteless and the portions were a bit on the smaller side we got there around 1pm the place was full and we wait almost an hour for our food to arrive.nI would go back for drinks with friends but food needs improvement.
Delicious roast dinner, friendly staff and a great atmosphere. The only minor issue being the food arrived on cold plates meaning we ate it warm at best. Will return for sure..
In the running as the best old pub experience in Balmain. Has been faithfully restored and is now redolent in all its sandstone old world glory. It has a cosy inside room and an outside area for smokers. Good for sport but its not intrusive with low noise but big screens. Serious pub food with classic dishes done well. Very popular trivia so need to book and not a bad idea to book weekend tables as well.
First visit in a couple of years. Still awesome. Didn’t book on a Friday night and it was full. All tables reserved. Sat out the front which was fine. Duck spring rolls and crab croquettes to start. Both delicious. Pie and a schnitzel as mains. Again great. Mushy peas delicious. Bar service great, moved very quickly. Meat raffle night which drew the crowds. Sensational.
We celebrated my daughter’s 21st at this venue on July 4th. The staff were so friendly and accomodating. The food was delicious and the venue was perfect upstairs area with the bar. A shout out to Adam who was the bartender. He was very helpful and nothing was too hard for him. Thank you Adam for making it such a memorable night. Thanks to the manager and her lovely staff. I would highly recommend this venue.
