Didn’t have a great experience at this DOC site. The locks on the gates are super clunky and we found them difficult to open. On our second night camping there they had changed the combinations on the locks without advising us. It was 10:30pm and raining. Couldn’t work out if the code was different or they were just stiff.  Decided to park up and walk to our tent And stop in on the property at the site (lucky). Who was able to tell us the new code.

I did the crater rim trek yesterday and loved it. Definitely a place I shall come more often on the weekends!

Breathtaking views - especially at sunset; I thoroughly recommend this spot. Windy it may be, and the drive up is a bit hair-raising, but it is absolutely worth it. Thanks Billy the rooster for keeping me company too.

A great exposed campsite with drinkable water (and not much else) overlooking sea down below in 3 directions. It does get windy!
