Good Market. Every sunday good deals save money on fruit and veg and everything in between good food stalls. Many nationalities in a bright and vibrant place. Rain or shine find a bargin or that perfect gift.
Incredibly huge open space. Run down, dilapidated stands.
Was a premier destination in the 70/80s for racing and markets. Sadly without the funds available the jockey club is quite run down. It has so much potential. Utilised wisely for Sunday Markets which is a go to for locals for fresh foods at very reasonable prices. Hope to see a revival of this once proud event centre.
-Sunday market from 6am-Noon - $3 parking - Fresh fruit and vegetables at affordable prices $. Best to go around 0730 to avoid foot traffic. - Fresh sea food sold in bulk and by the Kilo prices $-$$ - Food stalls around selling Island donuts, Asian food/ cakes coffee $ if no seats are available to sit and eat, walk around to the grand stand plenty of room there - clothes and niknaks are also sold here. Fishing hooks, gardening tools, kitchen knives etc under grand stand. Worth checking out if your up early on sunday.
Huge area, the future of which seems far from certain. One of the biggest empty spaces I have seen in Auckland which is great for walking or running. It had a lone security guard on the entrance when I went there in September 2021. Paths and beautiful long grass. Of course your imperial distance markers are already in place ! Use it while it is still there.
Back to its best with loads of shoppers and variety of stalls selling seasonal veg. One of my favourite things to do in Auckland on Sundays, take the tourist bus through there.
Great to have the Avondale Markets open again, spoiled for choice with fresh vegetables and fruit. Seafood is also fresh. Clothing, Toys household goods, it's all there. Parking is now $3 get in early so you're not driving endlessly look for a park. A majority of stall holders do not have EFTPOS, take plenty of cash/coin's
Great place for Sunday market fot fruit and veges..
I go to the Avondale Markets on Sunday mornings. It is fun and everything is do affordable. Fresh fruit and vegetables a rhird or quarter of the price of supermarkets.....goods new or secondhand...clothing etc....makes the cost of living much easier in our house It isxwheelchair accessible and accessible parking provided if you ask for it. Such an entertaining way to go shopping.
