Security did an excellent job clearing passenger backlogs today following a delay due to fire alert terminal evacuation. Airline staff worked seamlessly with them to prioritise passengers on imminent with departing flight schedules.
It's a domestic airport in Auckland, New Zealand. It's big enough to have flights to cities other than Auckland. It's always warm and welcoming. Varieties of food and drinks; and even shops.
Auckland has two terminals, international and domestic. The domestic terminal includes regional flights too.nnOn a nice day, I walked the ten minutes or so from International to Domestic but they also have a free shuttle bus that goes every few minutes. Look for the signs.nnA few casual dining options groundside including noodles, sushi, bagels and the ever present McDonald's. Ticket counters for Air New Zealand and Jetstar on opposite ends of the terminal.nnSecurity was a breeze. My boarding pass was not checked and no one asked foe identification. Airside, there is a coffee shop and a convenience store.nnFree wifi throughout the terminal but it was slow and required reauthentication too often. I did not find a very comfortable spot where I could plug in sit with my laptop.
Used to be great but not anymore. I've recently noticed that the domestic terminal employs many inexperienced security agents. I've seen a man been held over a laptop stand just because the agent didn't know what it is.... yes, a laptop stand. There are heaps of people flying with work tools and these freshly employed agents love to take their own sweet time. For the peak hour such as 6~9AM and 4~7PM I highly recommend you to arrive at the airport maybe 15~30 min earlier than usual.
Efficient airport but be warned there are very few options for food or shopping once through security. Despite being told by check in staff at Jetstar there were plenty of options theirs is literally only one coffee shop on the other side and a small relay.
