It was my first time watching a show at Athenaeum Theatre. The vibes and ambiance of the place really matched the show - Ghost Stories. We were in the middle seats on the stalls section so we were able to watch everything in a comfortable way. My friends told me that the theatre is actually haunted which adds spice to the show. Overall, nice theatre. Not too big so any seat is a perfect angle.
Came here to catch the Candlelight Concert and would recommend it to anyone. Been to 3 already. But regards to the Athenaeum, amazing venue, we sat up to row M and still had an amazing view. My only criticism is the prices for drinks at the bar can be ridiculous; $14 for cider is insanely expensive.
We went to see Alice in wonderland performed. Seamless process to be seated. We had great seats in the dress circle but anywhere would still have provided fantastic viewing. Charming old theatre. Only complaint was there isn't much leg room.
I had an amazing evening at the Athenaeum Theatre. Apart from the safety railing in front of my seat my view was great. I was in row A in the upper dress circle and just needed to sit on the edge of my seat to avoid the safety rails. The sound was superb and the show, The Friends Parady Musical was brilliant. Staff were helpful and courteous. A great night out in a good location.
Cruel Intentions the musical had its opening night on Friday 27th May. The Athenaeum was a great venue to showcase the start of the six months tour of this opportunity to get life back to normal after all the Covid19 lockdowns. Great to see people dressed up.enjoying them selves. highly recommend you dont miss this .
Fantastic shows for kids during school holidays. We’ve been here twice in this week. “Alice in Wonderland” & “Tinkerbell”. Children just loved it
First time here watching the Oracle with my wife as our little get away from our busy lives. First impressions grand and modern, textures on the wall inside the theatre are a little worn out, this is apparent if you are sitting next to the wall. The seats are comfortable but little wiggle room as expected with theatre layouts. You can take drinks and snacks into the theatre but must be purchased from the bar. And the prices are outrages, for a can of canadian club and pringles it was a wobbing $22. Otherwise it's definitely a place to add to the bucket list.
Lovely retro fashioned theatre. Very good acoustics. Simple but good seating arrangements. Enjoyed the theatre and the event.
Nice theatre. Cozy. Comfy. Got last minute tickets to a mid week show. I don’t recall going to the Athenaeum before. Across the road from the Regent. Surprised at first, as it’s quite a bit smaller than I’d expected. We were seated down the bottom closer to the back, which was still quite close. Tiered well. Was not obstructed by anyones head which was nice. Surprised to see patrons so drunk on a Wednesday night. The security kept a close eye on them and eventually asked them to leave. Could have happened earlier but I was happy they didn’t ruin the end of the show. Singing loudly along to songs. Not so good. The seats were comfortable. It was also a great show. Consider booking parking or catching public transport. Quite easy to get to on the tram.
Love this theatre. Saw David Strassman in A Chocolate Diet on Wed 16 Nov 22. He was so funny. We were sitting in row E in the stalls, close to the stage with a great view.
