"Chat Thai brings you Assamm to showcase the amazing diversity of Thai cuisine not found at Chat Thai. An "assamm" was the title given to the housekeeper/chef who ran the household of middle and upper-class families. Competition was truly fierce for these extremely prestigious and well paid positions - only the best chefs were permitted to apply. The best "assamm" achieved cult status and were in high demand, legend even has it that some were kidnapped in the dead of night by rival households! These families were well travelled through business and leisure and wanted to eat flavours from all over Asia at home, so an "assamm" needed to be a master of various Chinese, Malaysian, Vietnamese, Laotian and even Indian cuisine, to name just a few."

This is one of the best Thai restaurant in Sydney CBD. For the atmosphere, food and price, this Thai place is definitely a better choice than going to chat thai which is located very closeby in the food court under Myers at Westfield. The price of the foods was very reasonable and also very generous servings. I would definitely recommend others to come to this restaurant.

Living up to the standards of Chat Thai, this restaurant produces quality Thai food. I had a Prawn Pad Woon Sen that came with arguably the biggest and best cooked prawns I had in the last few years. The head was full of tasty juices, while the body was cooked just right.  The drawback here is the slightly higher prices and the somewhat small serving sizes.

I ordered the sukho noodle soup.. It wasn’t too spicy and a little too salty.. Prawn crackers and the fresh coconut was nice..  The service was super Quick and efficient! Friendly service..   The resturaunt was not too busy so it was easy to find seatings in a quiet area, it’s a very casual setting similar too a food court but more private.  Situated in QVB close to T2 Tea shop.. Very close to the Townhall train station.

Assam Thai does great food. Good venue for small work groups. Make sure you book ahead.

Amazing food chat thai app is not very good though. Nice ambience to the place. They seem to have two different apps for the place one for ordering from table another as loyalty to the chain. App via table takes longer than ordering from counter or waiter which could make it simpler and aid in upwelling and explain what the menu items are. Food is great I ate a batter fried chicken with nahm tok, roasted ground rice, and salad with lime juice ,chilli and palm sugar..wiped it clean..app needs to go though..

Ordered the chili basil fried rice with crispy pork belly. Pork belly was very crispy and rice was quite spicy, similar to the levels in Thailand. The reason I frequent this joint is because of the spiciness of the food, which is identical to street food served in Thailand. Not for the faint hearted, this place serves really spicy food which is a rare find for Sydney.

The restaurant isn't particularly honest with the quantity of food. When we nicely asked for clarification, their service attitude was very bad. "That's just how many we serve." It's not about the money only the dispute of $6 but the dishonesty and attitude to their customers were letting us down.

This was the best Singapore Nonya and now it's Thai. It's ok, but very noisy and more expensive than before. The Satay is ok but sadly the classic Laksa has gone Thai which isn't as good. Service was ok, as was the quality. Go take a look, it's not bad but is dominated by competitors that do it better and cheaper.

Awesome place! The dishes are just so flavourful and packing a punch. Highly recommend this place. I would also recommend the coconut jackfruit drink which is amazingly refreshing.

Big portion, delicious and affordable! Very satisfied. The Emerald duck dish is a must try!
