My grandfather died in your care. I was not contacted when he was diagnosed with cancer. I was not contacted when he died. I have still been yet to be contacted to this day several months later having to find out in the same convoluted way his primary contacts were. Had I been notified I would have instantly been down there to say goodbye. I am haunted when I look back at messages with my then girlfriend discussing how I would visit him soon since I hadn’t seen him in a while, when unbeknownst to me and his children he was in that moment dying of cancer and would be dead in a matter of weeks. I am aware you were not obligated to personally inform me, as I was not listed as a contact, but where you’ve gone completely wrong is his primary contacts were not notified either. My uncle who I was estranged from was not notified by Arcare, and instead found out about the diagnosis through my grandfathers church pastor. What makes it even more ridiculous is the pastor was not even notified, but was instead informed by a resident whilst he was looking for my grandfather during a visit, only to find he had been moved to a completely separate building due to his medical issues. The second primary contact, and executor of the will, a family friend, also was not notified, and found out in the same manner, except in an even more unfortunate circumstance came in after my grandfathers passing looking to visit a man who was tragically already deceased. This, was then who instantly informed my mother, who then informed me take notes Arcare, this is how effective communication is done, same day, no delay. When confronted about this Arcare skirted around this issue making mention of multiple statements which I perceive to be frankly completely untrue such as denying failing to contact the required parties, denying that certain parties needed to be informed, or even saying the pastor was involved in the organisation of a funeral despite the fact my grandfather neither had a funeral nor did he want one, so therefore this could not be the case. You have taken my chance to say goodbye to my grandfather, you have done the same to my mother. I will never get that time back, and then to add absolute insult to injury there was no apology and admittance of fault. The one consolation of all this is my grandfather will not have to spend another second in this disgrace of an organisation. God rest his soul.nnI would say “if I could give zero stars I would”, but frankly the mere effort to even leave any review is far more effort than Arcare deserves, and far more effort than this organisation ever put it into caring for my family and loved ones.
My mum was in The Lodge for respite and it was a caring and good experience for hernSince The Lodge, she is now in full time care in the main building, where the care and compassion continuesnThe team at Arcare are all welcoming and friendly in both buildings and are doing a great job in understanding my mums needs as a Greek residentnI feel assured and happy my mum is getting the care she needsnA special thank you to Kay Client Service Manager who has been patient and kind during a difficult time.
Positive, vibrant, friendly, empathetic, caring, thorough, brave, resilient. The staff here makes me want to work in aged care myself.
We recently had to move my father into an aged care facility after being hospitalised for a long time. We have known for years that this would be necessary, however it was confronting when the time actually arrived. I flew from Brisbane to Melbourne to assist my Mum in the process. We visited a number of facilities and were blown away by Arcare Knox. We were greeted in a friendly manner by a number of staff members and were treated with respect and friendliness by all staff we encountered. Gabriele met with us and took us through the paperwork and fees and made us feel comfortable with the whole process, reiterating that they realised it would be an adjustment for both my parents and they would do everything they could to make the transition as smooth as possible. The facilities were lovely and residents were out of bed, looking happy and well cared for.nSince Dad has been a resident, we have been nothing but happy with the care he has received, especially on the day he was transferred. All the staff have been polite, friendly, understanding of his needs and have done all they can to help him adjust. During an emotional time for us all, Arcare have certainly done everything they can to assist.
The people there don’t know what’s going on. Never ring you back and they don’t communicate with HR. I don’t even know how to run the place. I wouldn’t put anyone in there let alone a human.
