Besides the many hiking trails, it is a great spot to find wildlife. I almost always see an abundance of lizards here, including the Tawny Dragons and White's Skinks which I have found nowhere else in the Adelaide foothills but at Anstey Hill. They are fast to hide and it is likely you'll miss them unless you go looking.
My favourite waking area. Easy tracks and tracks that will really be your heart pumping. Tracks with amazing views of the city. Lots of places to enter the park. Plenty of wildlife, birds, kangaroos and the occasional koala or echidna. Limited water and toilets are the only down side. Dog-friendliness: Lots of trails and interesting things to sniff. Wide tracks.
As i walking along North East Road i came across Anstey Hill Park! This is a must visit if you love walking with family and friends! Such a beautiful recreation park with wildlife and you are sorrounded by australian nature.. . Walk along the Quarry walk road or choose your own track: stunning views and tranquillity and keep an eye out for Kangaroos/Koalas as they live here. I started at Gate1 and there was toilets which are well kept. On your way out of the Park have lunch at The Gully Bistro or head down to St Peters Bakery.
Absolutely amazing trail. Did not expect to see any wildlife but within the first 10 minutes had many different birds and even kangaroos! Was lovely and so many wild flowers gives it a perfect scenery.
Only about 17km from the CBD, this is the place to walk or cycle on different terrains and slopes. From the top of the windy and shady hill, you can see a breathtaking panoramic view of the city. Watching the sunset from the top of the hill is well worth the distance. That's when the kangaroos appear at the foot of the hill as well. And if you're lucky, you may even see some cute koalas along the way. Highly recommended.
I'm always a fan of a walk at Anstey Hill, with many trails of various difficulties and lengths on offer. Lots of wildlife around in the evening, great spot to see some kangaroos. Just don't get locked in the car park!
Where to start? I love this place, it's where I go to remove the stress from life. Perfect for all fitness levels, take a casual stroll or go up the big hills, which ever you prefer you won't be disappointed. Enjoy a sunset view. See our wonderful wildlife Take the dog for an adventure on a leash of course! Check out the ruins Have a picnic
Went on a hike last Monday, my second time on this trail. The weather was perfect, and the views were stunning. Saw some wild kangaroos too! There were a good number of other hikers, some with kids and dogs. This is an easy trek with just a short steep climb midway. Except of course if you take Torture Hill which I have not yet dared to do. There are also some ruins you can look at. Did not notice any public toilets. Dog-friendliness: Lots of people take their dogs with them on this trail.
Easy walks are close to the quarry and from gate 6 to Newman's old nursery and back. The rest of the tracks, there are many of them, have some steep sections. Great views and a variety of wildlife and wildflowers are the rewards.
You can't go wrong with a hike at ansteys hill. There are a range of different hikes you can choose from, but they are all good. Restrooms: Some very sus graffiti
