Went into store to get another small fish for my friends 9 year old boy, the girl who we dealt with was so rude and uncompassionate. He has a small 10L tank which we brought from a pet store AND animates sells the same one, the fish are very important to him as he has a severe form of epilepsy and this is something he focuses on. She told him that his tank is too small, that his fish were going to die and that he should think carefully about who to rehome them to, and told him to go and spend his $20 at the warehouse. To speak to a 9 year old boy like this who was clearly passionate about his fish was really upsetting. He left the store crying. I understand there is optimum conditions for a fish, as a qualified vet nurse. But the way we were spoke to was not okay. We won’t ever be back.
Normally we don't go to animates but the most recent visit and help from Emma staff member seeled the deal it will become our local now.A++++
The staff at Animates are always friendly and helpful and seem to be there for the love of the animals and will often help with advice. The store has a large variety and is clean and tidy and the self serve dog wash is easy to use.
Absolutly love animates invercargill we went in today for some help with our cats, we spoke to Emily who helped us immensley with her amazing knowldege providing us with the most helpful advice and tips. I honestly can't express how grateful we are for the help and knowledge, All the staff there have been amazing any time we went in and today just topped it off!!
My favourite place to shop in Invercargill. It’s actually better than the Animates chain in Auckland. They are very knowledgeable, ask them anything and they know the answer in detail. Friendly, polite no fuss shopping

I absolutely love visiting the invercargill store for my fish tank needs. I am unsure of their names but there's two "fish girls" that are always super knowledgeable about any issues I might be having with my aquarium, and to help me pick the right fish for my community. Their enthusiasm for aquariums is amazing, and so there's knowledge.
Friendly, caring and knowledgeable staff. Always worth a visit
