Had dinner there last night....ordered 4 mains and an entree to come out with mains. Took 90mins7.15pm-8.45pm for meals to come out , even thought there was only 3 tables before us10 people . Food was nice, maybe because we were so hungry by then . Would come back if we knew our meals wouldn't take as long.
The Atmosphere felt cosy and intimate ,the tables were set well and clean…the food sadly was a huge disappointment. Got the gnocchi and the pomegranate chicken. Chicken breast was way over cooked and tough. I unfortunately took a big bite at the start and really struggled to get that down. The Gnocchi was very underwhelming. Too much cheese the sauce was basic almost like something bought from a store. Neither of the meals were finished past a quarter of it . We did however finish the bruschetta which was rather nice.
Foodwise, they were disappointing ... Mussels, Spaghetti di mare Calamari ... Small wine list, but okay. It's not the same trattoria anymore.
This restaurant has such a lovely vibe. It feels family run, and it's peaceful and relaxing. Very romantic! The food is exquisite, we each got a pasta dish which was fantastic. The fresh bread was incredible as well!
As much as I'd love to review the food here, I find that impossible, since we left without eating. I've never walked out of a restaurant before. We had a booking, and they showed us to a table for two, with one chair. Ok ... Then we sit down after I take a chair from another table who'll now be short and sit. We look down and there's crumbs and dirt on the tablecloth. My side wasn't too bad, but my friend's was. Even the cutlery didn't look clean. We asked to move, and were shown to a small table by the door and I had to sit with my head practically at the mercy of the power box. If I moved too much, I'd have probably whacked it. We look down and again, this tablecloth had crumbs. I'm sorry, but one table could be an oversight. But two tables, is unacceptable. It greatly concerned us that if the tablecloths aren't cleaned, what else wasn't clean. From what I could see, the ambience would have been nice and the decor warm and cozy. But honestly, I can't give this a good review at all. Cleanliness in a restaurant is paramount and without it, they don't have my trust or 5 stars.
Experienced a wonderful evening of tasty food and warm hospitality at Amici Trattoria. Celebrated my husband’s birthday with friends and everyone loved the food and brilliant service! I asked the owner if they could also prepare a birthday cake for 12 and they offered to make us a passionfruit cheesecake. When I later asked if they could substitute this for a tiramisu cake my hubbie’s favourite! they kindly obliged. Nothing was too much trouble. Thoroughly recommend this beautiful taste of Italy!
quite a terrible experience. we went there for our daughters 21st birthday. the actual menu in the restaurant is quite a bit more than the online menu. meals were terrible, gnocchi with lots of melted cheese on top. have had better meals at La Porchetta.
The serving sizes for takeaway meals are embarrassing. I ordered the Seafood Brodetto which cost $34 and consisted of 4 mussels, 3 pieces of calamari and 3 prawns. The portion size was very disappointing considering how much I paid.
March 23 Should have known something was wrong with no recent reviews, sad to see a business in decline. We liked the old fashioned decor wood panelling, photos on wall and a wine bottle with a candle on the table. Only two other tables taken. Now the food - Garlic bread a warm supermarket bread roll on a plate was put on the table with a knife accompanied by a ramekin of garlic salted butter. Wow a first?? Dishes - veal chewey, 2 x pasta dishes piled onto a flat desert plate were gluggy coated sparingly with passata, the meatballs in one dish were dry and the diner left most of it. Terrible. Waste of money.
Amazing candlelight dinner experience with lovely Italian cuisine. The staff is very friendly a d the food is delicious. Definitely worth going if you are looking for a hidden gem in the busy city of Melbourne.
