Alliance Française is a non for profit association dedicated to promote French language and culture. Founded originally in France in 1883, the Brisbane chapter was created in 1907. We are proud to say we have been teaching French in Brisbane for 110 years.

I returned to the Alliance francaise de Brisbane a year ago to prepare for a 5 week stay in South-West France. After 9 months tuition I was able to basically communicate with most French people I met in everyday life situations. I highly recommend the Alliance to any person intending to spend some time in French speaking countries or to start on a programme of French according to one's level of understanding of this wonderful language.

I've been going to Alliance Francaise de Brisbane for a quite a few years now. I would like to thank my teacher Mr. Benoit Ory, who with his unique teaching method, encourages me to participate in Langue et Lecture classes every Saturday despite my very busy work and life schedule.

Great French classes for kids by native speakers. West End Markets right across the road on Saturday mornings too for parents whilst you wait!

I recently attended a screening of Jean Renoir’s 1955 classic French Cancan arranged by Alliance Française in partnership with Griffith Film school. What a fantastic evening this was ! A highly entertaining film from one of the great French directors , a lively panel discussion with first hand accounts of working at the Moulin Rouge by two of the dancers, followed by a delicious supper and wine on the verandah overlooking the Brisbane River. A wonderful evening !

G'day, This place is magic,  an outpost of French culture and language. If you can get into a class run by Sarah Cerutti-Genet, do so. This charming young woman is a gifted teacher of French as a second language. You'll work hard, but you'll have lots of fun. P.

Great event at the Griffith Film School: Moulin Rouge! The famous movie of 1955 with Jean Gabin followed by a fantastic panel discussion featuring Marissa Burgess. Well done AF for organizing such a memorable event.

Just as it says, yes, the France isn't too far away So worried was I after 15 years of not studying the language back in high school, it has turned to be one of the best choices that I made: coming to Alliance Francaise Brisbane to pick up the broken pieces.  Since I came to AF early last year, my journey has been a smooth sailing. Not only are they corresponding to my learning needs with a wide range of class options at your disposal, but also teachers are accommodating and approachable. Furthermore, the team is readily available to provide any supports that students require as little as what courses to sign up for, or any handy tips if you sit for an exam.  I would recommend to anyone either who hasn't studied French before, or wishes to brush up on their rusty bits so that they could have that sense of achievement as the language progresses as well as the sense of community that we share here at the Alliance Francaise Brisbane.

I started classes with only basic school French. There is a class for every level of current ability. The teachers are all French with excellent English. The classes are fun, and the teachers are excellent and very supportive. I’m still going strong after 3 years.

French Cultural hub of Brisbane. Such an iconic spot with fabulous heritage as the place in Brisbane where you can learn French, connect over your love of France, drink wine, eat cheese, listen to music, borrow movies and books and the Alliance also hosts the fabulous French Film Festival. Everyone in Brisbane knows the Alliance!
